  • Publication number: 20190086086
Abstract: A cavity stabilized detonation combustor assembly for a rotating detonation engine includes opposing inner and outer walls that are radially spaced apart from each other and that both extend around a center axis of the rotating detonation engine. Detonations in the rotating detonation engine rotate around the center axis of the rotating detonation engine. The assembly also includes opposing leading and trailing cavity walls that are coupled with the inner and outer walls and which radially extend away from the center axis, and an axial wall that is coupled with and connects the leading and trailing cavity walls with each other. The axial wall and the leading and trailing cavity walls define a detonation stabilizing cavity in which detonations of the rotating detonation engine occur and are stabilized.

Abstract: A kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) tier a machine having a swing motor and/or an actuator includes a hydraulic motor/pump that can output pressurized fluid for operating at least one of: the swing motor and the actuator. A first shaft of the hydraulic motor/pump can be rotated by fluid returning from at least one of: the swing motor and the actuator back to the hydraulic motor/pump. Further, the KERS also includes a flywheel that can selectively couple with the first shaft with the help of a first clutch. The flywheel stores drive power generated by the hydraulic motor/pump from the return flow of fluid when the first clutch couples the flywheel with the first shaft of the hydraulic motor/pump. A gearing arrangement is coupled to the flywheel and can selectively engage with a second shaft associated with a prime mover of the machine with the help of a second clutch.

  • Patent number: 9456655
Abstract: A manufacturing method, within a modularized manufacturing environment for stabilizing a phylon article that is produced utilizing a heat press, is provided. Initially, the method includes immersing a phylon article in a first tank, with a fluid disposed therein, and withdrawing the phylon article from exposure with the fluid. Typically, the midsole is heated from its production with the heat press when it is placed into the first tank. The immersion in the first tank acts to cool the phylon article, thereby stabilizing the heated phylon. The phylon article may be next placed in a second tank, with a fluid disposed therein, and withdrawn from exposure with the fluid. The fluid of the first tank may reside at a temperature comparable to or higher than the temperature of the fluid of the second tank. Recursively exposing the heated phylon article to the fluid of the tanks incrementally decreases the volume of the article.
