    Abstract: An improved self-centering clutch thrust bearing is described which includes a rolling bearing assembly and a sleeve bearing. The sleeve bearing and rolling bearing assembly each include radially extending flanges and means are provided for captivating the flanges in an axial direction while allowing limited play in a radial direction. An annular collar and an annular disc are also provided and are positioned for enabling a limited relative motion in a radial direction between the bearing assembly and the sleeve bearing.

    Abstract: A hydraulic release mechanism for automotive clutches and the like comprising a housing and a bearing assembly. The assembly comprises a non-rotating race ring, a rotatable race ring adapted to be connected to an operating element for said clutch and a plurality of rolling elements arranged therebetween. The bearing assembly is mounted with respect to the housing for axially slidable movement and radially floating movement. The housing under pressure, the force of which is transmitted through the end of the non-rotating race ring, the rolling elements, and the rotating race ring to the clutch operating element. Preferably, the means for mounting the bearing assembly with respect to said housing comprises a flexible bellows.

A ball bearing assembly of a plurality of balls and a cage is arranged between the closed ends of the bearing rings. The bearing rings have thin walls, and the thrust ball bearing is particularly adaptable for use as a clutch throw-out bearing.

    Abstract: A clutch bearing assembly has inner and outer rings defining a race for ball bearings. The outer ring is adapted to engage a clutch lever, and the inner ring is adapted to be a stationary ring. A sliding sleeve for the assembly is coupled to the inner ring by deformable elements positively affixed to one of these members. The deformable elements may be wire bights having their ends axially inserted in grooves in the inner ring and sliding sleeve. Alternatively, the deformable element may be a spiral spring radially engaging an axial extension of the inner ring and having ends inserted in axially extending holes in the sliding sleeve.

The friction clutch is provided with a disc-shaped spring release member having a central bore. The clutch release bearing is formed as a conventional anti-friction bearing having an outer race ring extending through the central bore of the release spring. One end of the outer race ring is formed with an annular flange extending substantially radially outward to contact the exterior frontal face of the spring release member. An angularly-shaped retaining ring is fixed to the portion of the outer race ring extending through the bore and is formed with an axially extending shank wall terminating in a peripheral edge which presses against the opposite interior frontal face of the spring release member.
