  • Patent number: 6902115
Abstract: The invention relates to a portable data carrier having a display device. This data carrier contains a microprocessor and storage devices associated with the microprocessor as well as means for displaying data stored in the storage devices associated with the microprocessor. In addition, the data carrier contains a display controller for controlling the display means and an energy supply unit for supplying at least the display unit and its controller with energy. • Publication number: 20040263431
Abstract: Chip card processor P and display controller C of chip card 1 with a display are realized in single chip 5 and the chip 5 is disposed on same substrate 4 on which display 2 is built up. This eliminates the need for connecting leads and contactings between the display controller and the processor chip. Display 2 and chip 5 form one mechanical unit and it is unnecessary to install processor chip P. Preferably, display substrate 4 extends with processor chip P, or at least with conductive paths leading to processor chip P, under contact pad 3 of chip card 1.

  • Patent number: 5943769
Abstract: A method for making integrated circuits electrically connected to conductive coil elements includes placing integrated circuits in recesses provided at precise locations along a foil carrier web and positioning coils also at designated locations on the foil web so that a coil is associated with each integrated circuit. The web is then cut to produce a planar coil electrically connected to an integrated circuit on a foil element. The integrated circuit and coils may be coated with a casting compound and the coils may be formed using various procedures, including pressing coils into the surface of the foil, sewing the coils to the foil and electrostatically forming the coils on the foil with fusion of the coil material directly onto the foil. Apparatus for carrying out the aforesaid process, including winding of the coils, is described.
