    Abstract: A harrow has an elongated frame beam supporting a row of rotatable soil-working members mounted side-by-side on upwardly extending shafts. The frame beam and row of soil-working members extend transverse to the direction of travel of the harrow. At each lateral end of the row, a screening plate is positioned and pivoted to the frame beam. Each screening plate extends in a substantially vertical plane in the general direction of travel. Also, each plate has a lower support portion that rides over the ground and side edges that are inclined upwardly. The screening plates are supported on arms that can be pivoted to relocate the plates 180 degrees so they can rest in inverted positions on top of the frame beam during transport.

    Abstract: An agricultural implement has a main frame and laterally positioned carrier frames pivoted to the sides of the main frame. The main frame extends forward to a coupling point for connection to a prime mover. The rear of the main frame mounts a hydraulic piston assembly that is interconnected to each carrier frame to elevate same into an upward tilted transport position. Each frame and carrier frame supports a frame portion having a respective group of rotatable soil working members positioned in a row to work a broad path during working operation. Connecting members on the carrier frames are connected to the central frame portion to raise same when the carrier frames are in their tilted transport positions. Latches supported on the main frame secure beams of the carrier frames in their tilted positions until release.

    Abstract: A cultivator-material dispensing combination includes a soil-working member that rotates about a horizontal axis forwardly, relative to the direction of travel, to displace soil over the top of that member to a screening at the rear thereof. A seed dispensing hopper has conduits that are supported on a hood that overlies the member and extends to the rear thereof. Material is metered from the hopper through outlets at the conduits' lower rear sides. Drive to the hopper is via a one-way transmission that is driven by a rear roller only when the combination moves forwardly. A further roller can be positioned to the rear of the first mentioned roller and a fertilizer hopper feed also driven to dispense material to the worked soil.

    Abstract: A cultivating machine has tines mounted on an elongated horizontal support that is driven to move the tines forwardly through the soil towards the normal direction of travel. The tines are in groups along the length of the support and each group has a number of pairs of opposing units. Each unit includes bracket portions having two rims and a tine is fastened to each rim. Opposing portions are bolted together to form a whole bracket that mounts four tines around the support. Each tine is a strip-shaped member that is hook-like in configuration with an inner straight portion and an outer soil working portion having a pointed tip. The inner portion has a series of holes along its length which can be releasably fastened to a respective rim in any one of a plurality of positions that change the working length of the tine. A front hood partially surrounds the tines and support and a rod grating is positioned at the rear of the tines. A rear hood is connected to the machine and located behind the grating.

    Abstract: A haymaking machine has two side-by-side rake wheels that are driven to rotate about upwardly extending axes and move crop between the wheels. Converging guide walls of horizontal rods are positioned in front of the rake wheels and some of the rods extend rearwardly to intersect the working paths of the wheels. Preferably the walls are located above the wheels. Each wheel has arms pivoted to a central portion and groups of tines are pivoted to the outer ends of the arms to turn about horizontal axes. Each group of tines is mounted on a carrier by coils that surround a tube so that the coils can be turned relative to the tube about a vertical axis and set in swath or tedding positions. Swath guides can be positioned at the rear of the rake wheels.

    Abstract: A cultivating implement with a coupling mechanism for attachment to the rear of a prime mover has a row of rotatable tined supports mounted on upwardly extending shafts. The implement has an elongated frame to house the drive elements for the row of supports which extend transverse to the direction of travel. A ground roller is pivoted to the frame to trail the tined supports and interconnected with the frame through arms that have adjusting means. The adjusting device can vary the distance between the frame and the ground roller so that, in effect, the working depths of the tines are regulated. The implement is supported solely by the roller, coupling mechanism and the tines. A seed drill with coulters is connected to the implement so that seeds can be directly sown in the soil worked by the tines. The tines are configured to intensely work the soil and the roller is positioned to support much of the weight of the implement and crumble the soil.

    Abstract: A spreader for granular or powdery material such as fertilizer having three conveyors extending transversally from each side of a hopper for the material, the hopper having two funnels and two discharge ports, one for each funnel, each discharge port being disposed above the inboard ends of a corresponding group of conveyors with each conveyor in each group having different lengths and terminating outboard in a rotary disc spreading member, such spreading members being spaced apart about 2 meters in the two groups of conveyors which are aligned. The conveyors each comprise an endless belt which, through further belts, rotate the spreader members about vertical axes. Disposed between each spreader and the end of the corresponding conveyor is a guide hood which guides the flow of material to the rotary disc behind its flat ejector blades which are biased 60.degree. from a radial line intercepting the inward edge of the blade, so that at design speed the material is ejected through an arc of about 180.degree..

    Abstract: A cultivating implement has a main frame comprised of beams that support an elongated central frame portion that has rotatable soil working members mounted in a transverse row. At each lateral side of the central portion, an outer elongated frame portion, with a corresponding group of further soil working members, is pivoted. In working position, the outer portions comprise extensions of the central portion so that a broad strip of ground is worked. For transport, the outer portions can be pivoted upwardly by hydraulic assemblies about pivots that interconnect same to the central portion, and the central portion can be raised out of ground contact by further hydraulic assemblies that move rear ground wheels into supporting position. Each of the hydraulic assemblies has a latch that cooperates with a pin to retain the outer portions and ground wheels in transport position. A cable or rope to the operator can pivot and release the latch so that a working position can be assumed.

    Abstract: A spreading implement has laterally extending conveyors of different lengths that form a boom to each side of a hopper. At the outer ends of the conveyors, rotatable spreading discs are mounted spaced apart from one another and each conveyor is an endless belt in a channel shaped guide. A slideable flow control is positioned beneath a port in the bottom at each side of the hopper to regulate the amount of material fed to the conveyors. Driving means, including a power take-off connection and a belt and pulley transmission move the conveyors and rotate the discs. At the end of each conveyor, a downwardly extending guide allows material to flow to a lower disc. Each boom is pivoted to the implement frame with a latch and pivot connection to be displaceable about a vertical axis to a rearwardly extending transport position. Also, each boom is comprised of spaced apart beams that are comprised by two portions that are interconnected with a further pivot and a latch connection.

    Abstract: An agricultural implement has a driven rotor with cultivator blades and a hood that overlies the rotor. The hood extends down to the rear and the lower hood portion is a guide that has a row of teeth. The teeth are extensions that furrow the worked soil and each tooth corresponds to a material delivery duct that communicates material, such as seeds, from a hopper to the furrows. A ground engaging trough-like levelling member is adjustably connected to side plates of the hood and the openings of the ducts are positioned near the levelling member to prevent clogging of the openings. One or more rear rollers are arranged behind the levelling member with driving connections to a rotatable mechanism in the hopper.

    Abstract: A marker in combination with a material spreader having a hopper and a plurality of conveyor belts leading to aligned material spreading members which rotate and broadcast the material to the underlying ground, the markers being connected by chains to carriers mounted outboard of the outboard spreading members to demarcate the outboard limits of material broadcast from the outboard spreaders. Each marker has a V-shaped stabilizing member with a rod rigidly connected to the apex of the stabilizing member to bisect the angle of said apex which is about 60.degree. and to extend between the arms of the stabilizing member so that the longitudinal axes of the arms and the rod fall in the same plane. The arms are of equal lengths and are shorter than the rod which has on its outer end a pair of plates extending perpendicular to the aforesaid plane, the plates being trapazoid-shaped as seen from the side and adapted to penetrate the underlying ground.

    Abstract: A rotary harrow or cultivator has a frame including an elongated frame portion that supports a row of soil working members. Each soil working member has a substantially vertical shaft supported on the frame portion by upper and lower bearing connections. The shafts each have a pinion gear in mesh with neighboring pinion gears and these gears are housed within the frame portion between the upper and lower bearing connections. If the upper bearing fractures, the fragments thereof are retained by a protective member which can be a separate plastic annular member having a chamber that surrounds each shaft, or the bearing connection can be formed by two separable portions that are bolted together and secured in a top cover of the frame portion. In either case, the bearing fragments are retained and cannot become lodged between the meshed gears.

    Abstract: A spreader implement attachable to the rear of a tractor has a container with two side by side funnel shaped sections. A port in the bottom of each section allows material to pass to conveyor belts that extend laterally to each hopper side. A flow control member is slideably positioned below each port with one or more openings that correspond to each belt, which openings can be more or less exposed by an adjusting device. The conveyor belts are supported on a foldable boom at each lateral side of the container and each belt leads to a respective rotating spreading disc and the belts extend for different distances so that material is spread over a very broad path. Each spreading boom includes beams and supporting guides for the upper and lower runs of the belts. Guide members are positioned below the flow members to direct material to the upper conveyor runs.

    Abstract: An implement has an elongated frame that extends transverse to the direction of travel and soil-working members rotatably mounted on a portion of the frame that depends from spaced apart, forward and rear frame beams. A coupling assembly having coupling points for auxiliary implements is pivoted to the forward frame beam by two beam members that extend rearwardly and rest on top of the rear frame beam to limit the downward movement of the assembly when the implement is raised. The rear ends of the beam members are connected to a tubular beam and further beams extend rearward from the tubular beam. A transverse beam interconnects the further beams centrally thereof and coupling points such as hooks are adjustably connected to plates that depend from the further beams. A central coupling point is fastened to the transverse beam and the further beams are adjustable to vary the width of the assembly.

    Abstract: A cultivating implement has a row of soil working members journalled along the length of an elongated frame portion. The frame portion extends transverse to the direction of implement travel and a support beam with further soil working members is positioned at the rear of the frame portion. The support beam is interconnected to the frame portion by arms and at least one, preferably two, pivot points on each arm enable adjustments of the level of the support beam with the further soil working members to be effected. One pivot point is at the rear portion of each arm and includes locking and pivot bolts.     Abstract: A cultivating implement has an elongated frame portion with soil working tines rotatably mounted along the length of the frame portion. The implement is supported, at least in part, by a leading member and a rear member each of which bear on the ground in advance and to the rear of the soil working tines. The supporting members can be wheels, rollers, a row of rods, levelling bars or combinations thereof which are interconnected by at least one linkage. Each supporting member has a respective carrier that is pivoted to a strip or pair of strips secured to the frame portion. The carriers include upwardly extending arms or plates with holes at different levels that receive pins and the pins interconnect the upper portions of the carriers to an adjustable connecting member. When one supporting member is displaced upwardly or downwardly, the other member is displaced in an opposite direction.

    Abstract: An implement has a row of tined motors that work a broad path of soil. Immediately in front of the rotors is a soil displacing elongated bar that is held to penetrate and raise a shallow layer of soil which is thereafter deposited immediately in front of the working tines. The bar extends parallel to the row of rotors and has a flat bottom that slightly compresses the ground from which the layer of soil is being displaced. The bar can be raised or lowered on supports interconnected to the frame. In front of the bar, a V-shaped guide can be connected to smooth the soil engaged by wheels of the prime mover. A rear roller can be positioned to further level the layer of soil that has been worked by the counter rotating rotors so that a seed bed can be finally prepared in one pass.

    Abstract: A soil cultivating implement has a row of tined soil working members that are driven to revolve about upwardly extending axes. The drive to the members includes meshed pinion gears and shafts of the members are mounted on every third pinion gear. The soil working members have tines, the inner ends of which are secured in recesses of plates near the axes of rotation of the working members. Each tine has an inner curved part and an elongated support portion to which downwardly, inclined soil working portions are integrally joined. The tines are free to deflect from their connections and neighboring soil working member tines work overlapping and/or adjoining strips of soil. The paths traced by the revolving tines spans a diameter that exceeds the width of two neighboring pinion gears.

    Abstract: A cultivator implement has an elongated central frame portion that supports a row of rotatable soil working members and a gear box with an imput connectable to a p.t.o. The gear box houses a driving shaft that extends horizontally transverse to the direction of travel and parallel to the frame portion. The driving shaft has a first pinion at one end that is engaged by the imput and a second smaller pinion is journalled in the side wall opposite the first pinion. The second pinion has an outer socket and a bore that receives the driving shaft. The outer end of the driving shaft has a socket that interconnects with the pinion's outer socket through lugs bolted together by a breakable bolt. The second pinion directly engages a third pinion that is on a shaft of one of the soil working members to drive same. If one of the soil working members jams, the bolt breaks and the driving shaft rotates relative to the second pinion.
