  • Patent number: 4095535
Abstract: A soil cultivating implement or rotary harrow has a row of soil-working members rotatably mounted on upwardly extending shafts. Driving means rotates the shafts and tools, preferably tines, are moved through the soil to work same. Fluid material from a container on a supporting structure is passed in the worked soil through injectors located adjacent the soil-working member. The injectors can be included with each soil-working member and can comprise one or more tine injectors. The injectors extend into the ground and conduct fluid through ducts and passages from the container into the ground. A roller at the rear of the injectors smooths the worked soil.

  • Patent number: 4083411
Abstract: An implement has at least one group of soil working members arranged in a row that extends transverse to the direction of travel. The group of members is carried on an elongated frame portion that is connected to an overlying supporting structure by parallelogram linkages. Fore and aft ground wheels on corresponding arms interconnect the wheels to beams of the structure and the arms for the front wheels form part of further parallelogram structures. A hydraulic piston assembly bridges each rear arm to an upper arm link of a further parallelogram linkage so that the arms can be pivoted and the supporting structure together with the frame portion with soil working members, are raised to a transport position. The wheels can each be adjusted about a vertical axis to support the implement, in part, during operation or entirely during transport. Respective coupling members are attached to the front and the side of the implement for towing same in either position.

  • Patent number: 4058068
Abstract: A cultivator or rotary harrow has soil working members rotatable about upwardly extending shafts journalled in a frame portion that extends transverse to the direction of travel. The front of the frame is supported by a coupling attached to a prime mover and the rear of the implement is supported by two ground wheels. One wheel is located at each lateral side of the frame portion at the rear thereof and a bracket is pivoted to the frame with rearwardly extending arms connected to the wheel axle mountings. An extensible connecting member interconnects the axle mountings to the frame above the bracket so that the wheels can be vertically displaced by shortening or lengthening the connecting members. A sowing mechanism, including a feed box, is mounted to the rear of the soil working members with delivery tubes leading to shoes. A flow control mechanism is driven by a transmission from the wheel mountings and the shoes can be raised or lowered by a linkage and control lever.

  • Patent number: 4057111
Abstract: A soil cultivating machine has a row of driven rotatable soil working members and a tool bar at the rear thereof to which tools, such as seed drills can be attached. The machine is connectable to a tractor lift and the members are driven via a p.t.o. At least one supporting member is detachably connected to the machine frame and the tool bar for operational support and transport purposes. The supporting member is elongated and extends rearwardly from the frame above the tool bar and to a rear support wheel. The supporting member includes a forward support that is pivoted to a rear arm and a hydraulic assembly bridges the pivot connection. Actuation of the assembly lifts the machine, including any tools on the tool bar so that the entire machine with attachments are supported solely by the tractor lift and the rear wheel or wheels.

  • Patent number: 4051904
Abstract: A soil cultivator or harrow has a row of soil working members that are driven about upwardly extending axes to work the soil. A plant screen at each lateral side of the implement has a forward guide portion that is pivoted to the front of the frame and a rear, spring-biased portion that normally is held close to the implement's lateral sides. The guide portion of each screen is inclined with respect to the direction of travel to guide plants away from the soil working members during the forward travel of the implement. A pair of arms are pivoted adjacent their front ends to a forward portion of the main frame of the implement, and are connected at their rear ends by a transverse support. The arms are connected to the main frame intermediate their ends by a connection which permits angular adjustment of the arms about their pivots. Each end of the transverse support is connected to a further rearwardly and downwardly extending arm and a roller is supported between the further arms.

  • Patent number: 4044840
Abstract: A cultivating machine has a row of soil working members that are driven to rotate about upwardly extending axes. Each member includes an elongated support and the opposite ends of the support each have downwardly extending arms with tine holders in which tines are secured. Each arm is hollow and receives the upper end of a holder that, in turn, receives a tine fastening portion. The arms serve to position the active portions of the tines substantially below their support and the support is thus positioned above ground debris and obstructions.

  • Patent number: 4037669
Abstract: A cultivator or rotary harrow has rotatable soil working members with tines that are driven to rotate about upwardly extending axes. Each tine has a fastening portion that is secured to a support, and a lower soil working portion. In one embodiment, the center lines of the two portions substantially coincide. Alternatively, the lower part of the soil working portion can be an offset straight part that extends outwardly or the lower part can be curved outwardly with respect to the remainder of the soil working portion. The opposite sides of the lower part of the soil working portion gradually flattens and broadens towards the lowermost tip.

  • Patent number: 4036303
Abstract: A soil-cultivating machine has an elongated frame that extends horizontally and transverse to the direction of travel. A row of adjacent soil-working members are mounted on corresponding upwardly extending shafts which are geared to a common drive shaft and the members are driven in relative opposite directions to work a broad path of soil. Alternate soil-working members are slideable along beams of the frame so that debris does not jam the drive connections. The drive to the soil-working members includes an imput shaft to a gear box, which can comprise a reduction gear, and an elongated drive shaft that extends parallel to the frame and along which the slideable members are displaceable. The corresponding gears to the working members includes a pinion transmission on the drive shaft which is slideable within limits defined by an elongated key arrangement. Compression springs bias each slideable working member to a normal central position.

  • Patent number: 4034687
Abstract: A cultivator has a beamed frame with a coupling member that can be attached to the lower points of a lift device on a tractor. The cultivator has an assembly of blades mounted on a horizontal shaft which is driven via a forward transmission connected to the p.t.o. of the tractor. A power driven roller is turned by a rear transmission that is interconnected to the forward transmission by a telescopic shaft. The roller is mounted on a supporting structure including overhead beams that extend forwardly to a pivot connection on top of the coupling member. The roller is vertically displaceable and mounted on pivoted arms of the structure. Hydraulic assemblies can raise and/or lower the roller relative to ground wheels on the structure, for transport. A delivery mechanism including a hopper with a connectable feeder drive is supported on the structure in front of the roller. The roller can be driven to aid the forward travel of the implement.

  • Patent number: 4023335
Abstract: A raking machine that displaces crop lying on the ground has at least one, preferably two, raking members that rotate on upwardly extending axes. Each raking member has a felly-like or circular member around which tines or other crop gathering elements are displaceably mounted. The circular member can be a cylindrical or conical wall that is deformable or flexible during rotation so that tines secured by pivots or bolts near the bottom of the member can move in axial, radial or tangential directions responsive to ground undulations and/or control means, allowing crop to be deposited in a swath or at a predetermined point along the circumference of the raking member. The circular member can be foldable responsive to the control which can be driven along a track and unfolded to deposit crop as desired. Also, side-by-side raking members can have tines pivoted in assemblies in which crank arms are contacted by control means or elements on an adjacent rake wheel to turn the tines and deposit crop.
