  • Patent number: 7281085
Abstract: A system (200) can provide data aggregation with a single primary table (206) formed in a content addressable memory (CAM) section (202). Within a primary table (206) CAM entries can be part of a primary table, one or more aggregate tables, or both. In one arrangement, valid bits in each CAM entry can indicate which particular schemes a CAM entry belongs to (primary table, or any of the aggregate tables). Associated data for each table can be stored in a RAM section (204) and can be accessed according to an offset address generated according to a scheme value (i).

  • Publication number: 20060245237
Abstract: A device stores a plurality of applications and a list of associations for those applications. The applications are preferably stored within a secondary memory of the device, and once launched each application is loaded into RAM. Each application is preferably associated to one or more of the other applications. Preferably, no applications are launched when the device is powered on. A user selects an application, which is then launched by the device, thereby loading the application from the secondary memory to RAM. Whenever an application is determined to be associated with a currently active state application, and that associated application has yet to be loaded from secondary memory to RAM, the associated application is pre-launched such that the associated application is loaded into RAM, but is set to an inactive state.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20040194153
Abstract: A method and apparatus optimize the use of system resources when switching between applications. Preferably, the apparatus includes a processor, a secondary memory and a system memory. Applications previously loaded into system memory from the secondary memory are set to either an active state or an inactive state. In the active state, the processor actively processes the application and a portion of the system memory is used by the processor for active processing. In the inactive state, neither the processor nor the portion of the system memory dedicated for active processing is used by the application. Preferably, only one application is in the active state at any given time. When multiple applications are currently stored in system memory, one of the applications is set to the active state while the other applications are set to the inactive state.
