Particularly preferred amino alcohols are 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP), 2-dimethylamino-2-methyl-1-propanediol (DMAMP), 2-amino-2-ethylpropanol (AMP), 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (AMPD), and 2-amino-1-butanol (AB). The ophthalmic compositions further optionally comprise a borate/polyol buffer system and an alkylamine.
