  • Publication number: 20240069640
Abstract: An acoustic field may be produced from a transducer array having known relative positions and orientations In this acoustic field, one or more control points may be defined. An amplitude may be assigned to the control point. Mid-air haptic effect for a virtual object on a human body part may be generated by moving the control point in a single closed curve comprising a plurality of curve segments. The single closed curve traverses at least one location where the human body part intersects with the virtual object. Additionally, a user may interact with virtual three-dimensional content using the user's hands while a tracking system monitoring the user's hands, a physics engine updates the properties of the virtual three-dimensional content and a haptic feedback system provides haptic information to the user.

  • Publication number: 20240073465
Abstract: A recommendation system integrated with a content management system (CMS). The CMS stores instances of shared content objects and coordinates user interactions by and between a plurality of CMS users. Shared content objects are divided into a plurality of portions, after which any user interactions over the various portions of the content object are observed and analyzed. User interest inferences are drawn from analysis of the observed user interactions taken user over respective particular portions of the content object. Based on the inferred user interests, fine-grained recommendations are formed and propagated. Some fine-grained recommendations refer to further content objects (e.g., content objects of different types). Some fine-grained recommendations are propagated to other CMS users (e.g., to a plurality of CMS users that are related in some way). The fine-grained recommendations refer to one or more specific portions of a content object as well as to the content object itself.

  • Patent number: 11913564
Abstract: A valve housing (1) has first and third openings (1.1, 1.3), and first and second actuating elements (6.1, 6.2) that are movable along a longitudinal axis of the housing (1). A return element (5) is between the actuating elements (6.1, 6.2), and exerts a force to keep the actuating elements (6.1, 6.2) in a rest position to close or open the first and third openings (1.1. 1.3). First and second wires (4.1, 4.2) are formed from a shape memory alloy. The first wire (4.1) is on the first actuating element (6.1) and the second wire (4.2) is on the second actuating element (6.2). An electric current to the first or second wire (4.1, 4.2) contracts the respective wire (4.1, 4.2) and moves the corresponding actuating element (6.1, 6.2) into an activated position against the force exerted by the return element (5).

  • Patent number: 11883847
Abstract: An acoustic matching structure is used to increase the power radiated from a transducing element with a higher impedance into a surrounding acoustic medium with a lower acoustic impedance. The acoustic matching structure consists of a thin, substantially planar cavity bounded by a two end walls and a side wall. The end walls of the cavity are formed by a blocking plate wall and a transducing element wall separated by a short distance (less than one quarter of the wavelength of acoustic waves in the surrounding medium at the operating frequency). The end walls and side wall bound a cavity with diameter approximately equal to half of the wavelength of acoustic waves in the surrounding medium. In operation, a transducing element generates acoustic oscillations in the fluid in the cavity.

  • Publication number: 20240021072
Abstract: A system providing various improved calibration techniques for haptic feedback is described. An acoustic field is defined by one or more control points in a space within which the acoustic field may exist. Each control point is assigned an amplitude value equating to a desired amplitude of the acoustic field at the control point. Because complete control of space is not possible, controlling the acoustic field at given points yields erroneous local maxima in the acoustic field levels at other related positions. In relation to mid-air haptic feedback, these can interfere in interactions with the space by creating secondary effects and ghost phenomena that can be felt outside the interaction area. The level and nature of the secondary maxima in the acoustic field is determined by how the space is controlled. By arranging the transducer elements in different ways, unwanted effects on the acoustic field can be limited and controlled.

  • Patent number: 11868265
Abstract: Techniques are described herein processing asynchronous power transition events while maintaining a persistent memory state. In some embodiments, a system may proxy asynchronous reset events through system logic, which generates an interrupt to invoke a special persistent flush interrupt handler that performs a persistent cache flush prior to invoking a hardware power transition. Additionally or alternatively, the system may include a hardware backup mechanism to ensure all resets and power-transitions requested in hardware reliably complete within a bounded window of time independent of whether the persistent cache flush handler succeeds.

  • Publication number: 20240005609
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for generating a walkable 360-degree video or virtual reality (VR) environment. 360-degree video data is obtained for a real-world environment and comprises a plurality of chronologically ordered frames captured by traversing a first path through the real-world environment. One or more processing operations are applied to generate a processed 360-degree video, which can be displayed to a user of an omnidirectional treadmill. Locomotion information is received from one or more sensors of the omnidirectional treadmill, wherein the locomotion information is generated based on a physical movement on or within the omnidirectional treadmill. Using the received locomotion information, one or more playback commands for controlling playback of the processed 360-degree video are generated. One or more selected frames of the processed 360-degree video are rendered for presentation and display to the user, based on the one or more playback commands.

  • Patent number: 11863352
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a novel network architecture for deploying guest clusters (GCs) including workload machines for a tenant (or other entity) within an availability zone. The novel network architecture includes a virtual private cloud (VPC) deployed in the availability zone (AZ) that includes a centralized routing element that provides access to a gateway routing element of the AZ. In some embodiments, the centralized routing element provides a set of services for packets traversing a boundary of the VPC. The services, in some embodiments, include load balancing, firewall, quality of service (QoS) and may be stateful or stateless. Guest clusters are deployed within the VPC and use the centralized routing element of the VPC to access the gateway routing element of the AZ.

  • Publication number: 20230420443
Abstract: Integrated circuit (IC) devices with diodes formed in a subfin between a support structure of an IC device and one or more nanoribbon stacks are disclosed. To alleviate challenges of limited semiconductor cross-section provided by the subfin, etch depths in the subfin (i.e., depths of recesses in the subfin formed as a part of forming the diodes) are selectively optimized and varied. Deeper recesses are made in subfin portions at which diode terminals (e.g., anodes and cathodes) are formed, to increase the semiconductor cross-section in those portions, thus providing improved subfin contacts. Shallower recesses (or no recesses) are made in subfin portion between the diode terminals, to increase subfin retention. Thus, subfin diodes may be provided in a manner that enables improved diode conductance and/or improved current carrying capabilities while advantageously using substantially the same etch processes as those used for forming nanoribbon-based transistors elsewhere in the IC device.
