  • Patent number: 8441972
Abstract: A WCDMA enabled user equipment device configured to have functions collectively or selectively idle to conserve power. A discontinuous receiver is used to detect and read network messages and report the messages to the host processor within the WCDMA enabled user equipment device. The host processor then activates functions previously powered down to receive incoming messages for the user of the WCDMA device. The discontinuous receiver is also used when the WCDMA device is active to read network messages, freeing a modem of the device to operate on user messaging; and therefore, enhancing user related performance.

  • Publication number: 20130107987
Abstract: A serial bit stream having a given bit per second rate is received and distributed to a plurality of phase shifted samplers. A multi-phase sampling trigger is generated at a rate lower than the given bit per second rate, and each of the phase shifted samplers is controlled by one of the phases of the multi-phase sampling trigger. The time spacing between phases of the multi-phase sampling trigger is the inverse of the given bit per second rate.

  • Patent number: 7826609
Abstract: A communication transmitting and receiving system in which the effects of near-end echo and near-end crosstalk signal from the communication medium are mitigated by adaptively reproducing the near-end echo and near-end crosstalk signal, which is then subtracted from the received signal. Filter coefficients for a Finite Impulse Response filter are adaptively generated to reproduce the near-end echo and near-end crosstalk. The filter coefficients are regenerated for the Finite Impulse Response filter in an adaptive correlator at the arrival of each received signal and whereby each new filter coefficient is a weighted sum of a previous coefficient and one received signal multiplied by a time delayed version of one transmitted signal.

  • Patent number: 7440987
Abstract: A direct digital synthesizer employs a trigonometric function generator utilizing decomposition of a larger angle into smaller sub-angles, interpolation of a desired sub-angle between two known angles and calculating the trigonometric function using complex arithmetic. The direct digital synthesizer has a phase accumulator to generate an angular increment signal of the output signal. A trigonometric function generator in communication with the phase accumulator receives the angle signal and from the angle signal creates the trigonometric function signal. An angle decomposing circuit is connected to receive the angle signal to separate the angle signal into sub-angles of the angular increment, a sum of the sub-angles equaling the angular increment. An interpolation circuit receives the smallest of the sub-angles to generate the trigonometric function for the smallest of the sub-angles by interpolating between the trigonometric function of two known angles.

  • Patent number: 7349679
Abstract: A power amplifier develops a modulated high power signal by summing the outputs of multiple voltage controlled oscillators. A phase control circuit synchronizes the phase relationship of multiple voltage controlled oscillators. The voltage control oscillators provide amplitude modulation of an output signal of the voltage controlled oscillator by adjusting transconductance of amplification devices of the voltage controlled oscillator. Another embodiment of the power amplifier provides buffer circuits at the outputs of the voltage controlled oscillators. The gain or delay of the buffer circuits is varied to provide amplitude modulation of the power amplifier.
