Patent number: 7914315Abstract: A coupling for the production of a releasable connection between a medical, in particular a dental, handpiece part and a supply hose and for the transmission of current and if applicable further supply media from the supply hose to the handpiece part. The coupling includes two coupling elements wherein one of the two coupling elements may be arranged on the supply hose and the other on the handpiece part. A guide element is arranged on one of the two coupling elements, which guide element can be inserted into an insertion opening formed on the other coupling element. In a certain relative rotational position of the two coupling elements a pushing element having current contacts engages into a corresponding recess of the second coupling element, wherein with inserted or at least partly inserted guide element the two coupling elements can be rotated relative to one another around an axis of rotation before attainment of the predetermined coupling position.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Assignee: Kultenbach & Voigt GmbHInventors: Bernhard Kuhn, Thomas Classen, Alexander Klee

Publication number: 20100233651Abstract: In an electric motor for use in a handpiece for dentistry, dental medicine or dental technology, with a rotor held rotatably by a bearing arrangement, and a stator surrounding the rotor, a bearing arrangement has a first bearing located on an end region of the rotor, and a second bearing located on an opposite end region of the rotor, which second bearing is constructed as a movable bearing and is biased in the direction of the first bearing by a spring arrangement. The spring force of the spring arrangement within an operating region is substantially independent of the position of the movable bearing.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2008Publication date: September 16, 2010Applicant: KALTENBACH & VOIGHT GMBHInventors: Bernhard Kuhn, Alexander Klee, Alfons Mader

Publication number: 20100209872Abstract: The rotor for an electric motor used with a dental handpiece has a shaft with a rotational axis and a magnet arranged around the rotational axis. A centering element may be rigidly connected to the shaft or constructed as part of the shaft. The centering element presses on the magnet from the outside to center it in relation to the rotational axis of the shaft. The centering element may be pressed or shrunk on to two balancing rings. The balancing rings can be pressed or shrunk on the shaft. This allows precise centering of the magnet with respect to the rotational axis of the shaft to be achieved. The pressure exerted by the centering element on the magnet counteracts centrifugal forces during rotor rotation. Particularly high speeds may be achieved without the surface of the magnet exceeding a critical tensile stress.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2008Publication date: August 19, 2010Applicant: KALTENBACH & VOIGHT GMBHInventors: Bernhard Kuhn, Alexander Klee, Thomas Classen
