System for validating and appending incident-related data records in a distributed electronic ledger
Patent number: 11521285Abstract: A computer apparatus, such as a validator node, for validating incident-related data records in a distributed electronic ledger is configured to receive a request from an agent to add a proposed incident-related data record associated with an incident to the distributed electronic ledger. In response to the proposed incident-related data record, the computer apparatus determines, from the distributed electronic ledger, one or more attributes of the agent or incident. The computer apparatus determines whether the proposed incident-related data record satisfies validation criteria based at least partially on the one or more attributes of the agent or incident. Once validated, the computer apparatus may then append the proposed incident-related data record to the distributed electronic ledger. Alternatively, the proposed incident-related data record may be appended regardless of validity, but an indication of validity may be appended if the proposed incident-related data record is validated.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2020Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Francesca Schuler, Thomas S Messerges, Bradley M. Hiben, Daniel A Law, Eric Johnson -
Patent number: 11132756Abstract: A method for registering an Internet of Things (IoT) device to an incident IoT ledger system is provided. A computer aided dispatch (CAD) device sends a first ledger request including an incident record to a distributed incident ledger operated by validation nodes. The CAD device receives a first ledger response indicating that the incident record was accepted and added into the incident ledger after being validated by the nodes. The CAD device then sends a second ledger request to an IoT distributed ledger operated by second validation nodes. The request includes a query to the IoT distributed ledger to find registered IoT devices for affiliating with the incident. The CAD device receives a second ledger response including information identifying registered IoT devices from the IoT distributed ledger. The CAD device then sends an affiliation invitation to an IoT device determined from the registered IoT devices identified in the second ledger response.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2018Date of Patent: September 28, 2021Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Francesca Schuler, Bradley M. Hiben, Thomas S Messerges, Eric Johnson

Patent number: 10873951Abstract: A method and converged LMR/LTE communications device provide for minimizing interference in the converged LMR/LTE communications device that operates in a land mobile radio (LMR) narrowband communication system and a long term evolution (LTE) broadband communication system. The converged LMR/LTE communications device detects, using an electronic processing device, that the converged LMR/LTE communications device is operating in the first LTE band and the first LMR band. The converged LMR/LTE communications device determines that a first LMR received signal strength indicator (RSSI) at the converged LMR/LTE communications device is less than a first LMR threshold signal strength and disables at least one LTE application based upon the first LMR RSSI being less than the LMR threshold signal strength.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2019Date of Patent: December 22, 2020Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Bradley M Hiben, Bruce D Mueller, John B Preston

Patent number: 10264587Abstract: A communication pathway (145) can be established between physically collocated narrowband (135) and broadband (105) devices. The narrowband device (135) can identify a communication channel. A transmission frequency used by the broadband device (105) can be spectrally-proximate to a reception frequency used by the narrowband device (135) in a frequency range associated with the communication channel, resulting in interference of the narrowband device's (135) reception when the broadband device (105) is transmitting and the narrowband device (135) is receiving concurrently. The narrowband device (135) can instruct the broadband device (105) to switch to a transmission spectrum block that is spectrally separated from the reception spectrum block of the communication channel to minimize interference between the devices when the narrowband device (135) handles a call assignment.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2012Date of Patent: April 16, 2019Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Bradley M. Patent number: 9467835Abstract: A method and mobile device are provided that manage a relay service in a public safety wireless communication system. When the mobile device determines one or more of: another mobile device has exited or is exiting a public safety vehicle or another first mobile device is not receiving a signal from a wide area network of acceptable signal quality, the mobile device activates a relay service. In response to activating the relay service, the mobile device announces an availability of the relay service at the mobile device, receives a registration of the another mobile device for the relay service, and, in response to receiving the registration, relays communications between the another mobile device and an access node. In another embodiment, a method is provided for negotiating a provision of a relay service among multiple mobile devices, wherein each such mobile device currently is providing a relay service.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2014Date of Patent: October 11, 2016Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventor: Bradley M.
