Abstract: A device and method for easily searching for various stored information on a screen of a mobile communication terminal in a standby state are provided. The integration search device of a mobile communication terminal includes an input unit having a plurality of keys to which characters and numerals are allocated; a storage unit for storing character and numeral mapping information corresponding to the keys, basic information, and edition information; a search unit for searching for a character and numeral allocated to an input key in response to an input of one of the keys and searching for previously stored basic information and edition information corresponding to a found character and numeral; a controller for sorting a search result; and a display unit for displaying the sorted search result in a list format.

Abstract: Disclosed is a device and method for providing a quick menu in a menu screen of a mobile communication terminal. The method and device allow a user to more easily utilize the menu frequently employed in menu screen, and to execute the functions of the quick menu. The method for providing a quick menu in a menu screen of the mobile communication terminal displaying many menu items, which includes, if there is a move of a focus marking the menu item according to the user's input, displaying an auxiliary display area, which displays at least one shortcut menu item for the purpose of carrying out the quick menu corresponding to the menu item in which the focus is located; checking whether the user selects the shortcut menu item in the auxiliary display area; and converting the current screen into the screen for executing the selected shortcut menu item, if there is a selection of the shortcut menu item as a result of checking.

Abstract: A multitasking method and mobile terminal enabled with the multitasking method are provided for executing, while a function is running, another function. The multitasking-enabled mobile terminal includes an input unit for receiving a user command; a decision unit for determining, if a command for activating an additional function is input through the input unit while at least one previously activated function operates, whether the additional function can run at the same time with the previously activated function; a control unit for activating, if the decision unit determines that the additional function can operate at the same time with the previously activated functions, the second function; and a display unit for displaying operation status of the additional and previously activated functions on a screen.

Abstract: A mobile communication terminal for displaying supplementary information on a background screen includes a communication unit, a storage unit for storing cumulative transmissions and receptions of calls and messages corresponding to supplementary information, a cumulative number rank determiner for comparing the cumulative transmissions and receptions of calls and messages and determining a cumulative number rank for the phone number, a controller for creating a map consisting of the supplementary information arranged from the highest to the lowest cumulative number rank of the phone number, and a display unit for displaying the supplementary information together with the cumulative number rank. The terminal allows a user to easily visualize supplementary information corresponding to a phone number by display on the background screen.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for processing an event generated during a recording of a DMB program in a DMB mobile terminal. The method includes recording an incoming DMB program when a DMB record mode is selected; determining if an event is generated during the recording of the DMB program; determining whether to execute the generated event; and when the execution of the generated event is selected, processing the generated event while recording the DMB program.

Abstract: Disclosed are a device and a method for sending or receiving a reply or forward message in a mobile communication terminal. When a user selects a reply or forward menu in relation to a specific original message, the title of the original message is extracted and set as the title of a reply or forward message. The number of messages having the same title as the original message is determined to generate an indication of the number of replies or forwards. According to the user's selection of the reply menu or the forward menu, a title header including a prefix indicating a reply or a forward and the indication of the number of replies or forwards is generated and inserted into a reply or forward message input window. A recipient of the reply or forward message can easily perceive whether the received message is a reply or a forward. The recipient can also perceive the number of replies exchanged between the two mobile communication terminals or the number of times the original message has been forwarded.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of providing user interface in a mobile communication terminal. A function of a first menu is displayed on a display unit when a sub body is in an open position. The function is carried out when a function performing key is pressed. It is moved to next menu when a menu transfer key is pressed and one contents among contents stored in the next menu is displayed.

Abstract: Provided is a method for displaying a background image in a mobile communication terminal. The method includes storing a predetermined image as background image depending on user's selection, storing position information of vertical screen frame and horizontal screen frame on the background image, and setting the background image; displaying an image of a region associated with the vertical screen frame among the background image, as background image, in response to a request for displaying a display screen of the mobile communication terminal in vertical direction; and displaying an image of a region associated with the horizontal screen frame among the background image, as background image, in response to a request for displaying the display screen of the mobile communication terminal in horizontal direction.

Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for automatically changing time-setting mode in a portable terminal using a timer. The method for changing a mode in a portable terminal having a timer includes the steps of displaying a time-setting mode and setting the timer of at least one mode with a time period by selecting and time setting at least one mode in the time setting mode.

Abstract: An information bar displaying method in a mobile communication terminal is provided. Upon detection of activating of the mobile communication terminal, an information bar representing a user-preset initial information group is displayed on an idle mode screen. Upon detection of input of a first key for movement between information groups, another information group corresponding to the first key is displayed in the information bar. Upon detection of input of a second key for movement to a menu item, at least one menu item within the displayed information group is displayed in the information bar. Upon detection of input of a third key for information selection, a program corresponding to the third key is activated.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for displaying a character input in a portable terminal and an apparatus thereof. The method includes determining whether a dynamic input effect is set when a character input mode is started, and displaying a character corresponding to a key input if it is determined that the dynamic input effect is set. Accordingly, various methods of displaying an input character in the portable terminal can be provided.

Abstract: A method for setting an alarm in a mobile communication terminal. Different alarm times can be set for different alarm days according to an alarm time and an alarm day set in each of a plurality of alarm setting formats. An alarm setting table including the plurality of alarm setting formats is displayed and edited on a screen, thereby simplifying an alarm setting process and allowing a user to conveniently check entire alarm information.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for transmitting image data in real-time between mobile communication terminals in a mobile communication system, the mobile communication system including a host mobile communication terminal, at least one client mobile communication terminal, an SMS server, and a PDSN assigning IP addresses. The method includes when an IP address is received from the PDSN, transmitting by the host mobile communication terminal an invite message to the client mobile communication terminal via the SMS server; receiving by the client mobile communication terminal an IP address from the PDSN, and transmitting a register message to the host mobile communication terminal via the PDSN; updating by the host mobile communication terminal a buddy list, and transmitting the updated buddy list to the client mobile communication terminal via the PDSN; and exchanging by the host and the client mobile communication terminals the image data in real-time based on the updated buddy list.

Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for controlling music play in a mobile communication terminal. The apparatus includes a motion recognition sensor unit for detecting a motion of the mobile communication terminal and outputting detection signals, a sound source chip for outputting sound, and a controller for receiving the detection signals from the motion recognition sensor unit, calculating motion values of the mobile communication terminal, and controlling the sound source chip to output sounds dependent on the calculated motion values. The apparatus includes a user interface required for the music play, a display unit for displaying music to be played, a motion recognition sensor unit for detecting a motion of the mobile terminal, a sound file storage unit including an area for storing at least one music information, a controller for controlling corresponding music to be played according a motion of the mobile terminal, and a speaker for outputting sounds of the played music.
