Abstract: In a formants extracting method capable of precisely obtaining formants as resonance frequencies of voice with less computational complexity, the method includes searching a maximum value by a spectral peak-picking method, judging whether the number of formants corresponding to a zero at the obtained maximum point are two, and analyzing a pertinent root by roots polishing when the number of the formants are judged as two. The number of the formants are judged by applying Cauchy's integral formula, wherein Cauchy's integral formula is not applied repeatedly but only once at a surrounding portion of the maximum value in a z-domain.

Abstract: A signal separation system and a method for automatically selecting a threshold to separate sound sources. The signal separation system calculates a power sequence for a target signal using a target mask, and a power sequence for an interference signal using a complementary mask, based on signals received from a plurality of microphones; applies a nonlinearity to the target signal power sequence and the interference signal power sequence; calculates a correlation coefficient of the nonlinear target signal power sequence and the nonlinear interference signal power sequence; and sets a noise masking threshold that minimizes the correlation coefficient.

Abstract: A speech distinction method, which includes dividing an input voice signal into a plurality of frames, obtaining parameters from the divided frames, modeling a probability density function of a feature vector in state j for each frame using the obtained parameters, and obtaining a probability P0 that a corresponding frame will be a noise frame and a probability P1 that the corresponding frame will be a speech frame from the modeled PDF and obtained parameters. Further, a hypothesis test is performed to determine whether the corresponding frame is a noise frame or speech frame using the obtained probabilities P0 and P1.

Abstract: Provided is a plasma display apparatus. The plasma display apparatus includes a first electrode and a second electrode formed in parallel on an upper substrate, and a third electrode formed on a lower substrate to intersect with the first electrode and the second electrode. A driving signal is applied to the first electrode, the second electrode, and the third electrode in a reset period, an address period, and a sustain period per one subfield. The reset period comprises a setdown period. A difference between a setdown lowest voltage of the driving signal applied to the first electrode and a voltage applied to the second electrode in the setdown period is 1.2 times to 1.5 times of a sustain voltage.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for shortening the time to synchronize video/audio data in a mobile communication terminal. The method comprises receiving video/audio data in the mobile communication terminal through a set session, determining whether a current sampling rate of the received video/audio data is consistent with a previous sampling rate of the received video/audio data, calculating a standard time according to the determination, and synchronizing the video/audio data based on the calculated standard time. The standard time is calculated using a preset ratio if the current sampling rate is consistent with the previous sampling rate. However, the standard time is calculated using a variation value of a real time protocol (RTP) time stamp and a variation value of a network time protocol (NTP) time stamp if the current sampling rate is not consistent with the previous sampling rate.

Abstract: Undesired key depression of a mobile device is prevented using a predetermined key activation pattern. This pattern includes successively pressing one or more keys of the mobile device a predetermined number of times. When this occurs, the mobile device converts from a key depression preventing mode to a half-operation mode. During this latter mode, functions corresponding to key inputs are automatically performed, provided they are input within a prescribed period of time. Otherwise, the mobile device converts back to the key depression preventing mode. As a result, undesired operation and power consumption of the mobile device is prevented.

Abstract: A baseband modem and method for voice recognition and a mobile communication terminal using the baseband modem and method are disclosed. A speech recognition rate may be increased by selecting a sampling rate suitable for speech recognition and portions of the speech recognition process may be implemented in hardware. The present invention includes an audio codec modulating a received voice signal using either a sampling rate for speech recognition or a sampling rate for voice communication. A feature vector extraction block extracts one or more feature vectors from the modulated voice signal and a speech recognition block performs speech recognition using an extracted feature vector when the voice signal is determined as a voice command.
