Abstract: A voice coding apparatus and method of a mobile communications terminal can embody higher compressibility and ensure high sound quality, compared with the case of using a Linear Prediction (LP) coefficient, by performing a Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) using a Perceptual Linear Prediction (PLP) coefficient.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for shortening the time to synchronize video/audio data in a mobile communication terminal. The method comprises receiving video/audio data in the mobile communication terminal through a set session, determining whether a current sampling rate of the received video/audio data is consistent with a previous sampling rate of the received video/audio data, calculating a standard time according to the determination, and synchronizing the video/audio data based on the calculated standard time. The standard time is calculated using a preset ratio if the current sampling rate is consistent with the previous sampling rate. However, the standard time is calculated using a variation value of a real time protocol (RTP) time stamp and a variation value of a network time protocol (NTP) time stamp if the current sampling rate is not consistent with the previous sampling rate.

Abstract: A method for recognition of a voice signal. The method comprising detecting an end point of the voice signal, extracting a transition point of the voice signal, determining distances between grids associated with the transition point using a DTW algorithm, and obtaining an overall global distance using dynamic programming associated with the distances obtained between the grids.

Abstract: Undesired key depression of a mobile device is prevented using a predetermined key activation pattern. This pattern includes successively pressing one or more keys of the mobile device a predetermined number of times. When this occurs, the mobile device converts from a key depression preventing mode to a half-operation mode. During this latter mode, functions corresponding to key inputs are automatically performed, provided they are input within a prescribed period of time. Otherwise, the mobile device converts back to the key depression preventing mode. As a result, undesired operation and power consumption of the mobile device is prevented.

Abstract: Methods and systems directed to telephone number retrieval are provided. A terminal requests a telephone number from a telephone number service. A voice response comprising the telephone number is received from the telephone number service. A feature vector sequence is stored in memory of the terminal as a reference pattern for the received voice response. The voice response has designated words between and among numbers of the telephone number. A keyword spotting routine searches for the designated words. Connecting words, located between and among designated words, comprising the telephone number are extracted and stored in a buffer. A number recognizer analyzes contents of the buffer. The number recognizer outputs a recognized telephone number for display on a terminal and/or storage in memory for future use.

Abstract: In a formants extracting method capable of precisely obtaining formants as resonance frequencies of voice with less computational complexity, the method includes searching a maximum value by a spectral peak-picking method, judging whether the number of formants corresponding to a zero at the obtained maximum point are two, and analyzing a pertinent root by roots polishing when the number of the formants are judged as two. The number of the formants are judged by applying Cauchy's integral formula, wherein Cauchy's integral formula is not applied repeatedly but only once at a surrounding portion of the maximum value in a z-domain.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for reducing power consumption in a mobile communication device is accomplished by removing power from the display when the display is not visible to the user of the device. Specifically, contact between the face of the user and the device or between two or more portions of the device is detected to determine that the display is not visible to the user.

Abstract: A color cathode-ray tube includes a panel having a fluorescent screen on its inside, a funnel which is coupled to the panel and has a cone portion at which a deflection yoke is installed, an electron gun which is installed in a neck portion of the funnel, and a shadow mask frame assembly which is installed at the inside of the panel and includes a shadow mask and a frame. The shadow mask includes an apertured portion which has a plurality of electron beam passage holes, an imperforate portion which extends from and surrounds a periphery of the apertured portion, and a skirt portion which is bent from a periphery of the imperforate portion and has a plurality of etched portions and embossments that are formed in the skirt portion. The frame is partially welded to the skirt portion of the shadow mask to support the shadow mask.
