  • Patent number: 5592797
Abstract: For use in a decorative molding system comprising thin flexible plastic molding strips having clips thereon and flexible tracks engaged by the clips, a plastic corner member provided between the adjacent plastic molding strips and forming a corner for receiving a pair of the plastic molding strips having free ends with their longitudinal axis forming an angle at a corner of a room. The plastic corner member comprises a one piece plastic body having side walls intersecting at substantially the same angle as the angle formed by the edges of said ends of adjacent plastic molding strips. Each wall has substantially the same undulating cross sectional configuration as the adjacent plastic molding strips. Each wall has an upper free edge, a lower free edge and a vertical free edge, an outer surface and an inner surface. A flexible plastic clip is attached to each the wall. Each clip has first end and a second free end.

  • Patent number: 5579617
Abstract: A molding assembly having a hanger member fixedly securable to an inner or outer wall of a building and a decorative molding insert member releasably engageable with the hanger member. The molding insert member is supported at a lower edge portion by a lower J-channel of the hanger member. An upper L-shaped portion of the insert member is supported by a depending lip portion of the hanger member which forms a second channel such that no external fastening elements are required to secure the molding insert member to the hanger member. The insert member can be quickly and easily releasably engaged within the J-channel and the second channel without the need for special tools. In an alternative preferred embodiment the insert member includes a lip portion which is adapted to slidably engage an under surface of an adjacently positioned insert member to provide an even more continuous appearance for adjacently positioned insert members.

  • Patent number: 5458538
Abstract: A roof vent comprising a one-piece plastic body including a base wall with air guiding vanes to ventilate the interior of a building. A plurality of spaced intermediate transverse supports are provided along the central longitudinal axis of the plastic body. The intermediate supports are adapted to facilitate folding at the center of the vent to maintain a straight line bend and to provide support for the central portion of the vent to improve stiffness and appearance. The supports overlap to accommodate different roof angles. Additionally, the roof vent has a tongue and groove arrangement on the end walls at each end for an interlocking connection to an adjacent roof vent. One embodiment of the roof vent is adapted for use on a hip roof. In this embodiment, a separate wall is used to deflect entry of snow or rain. The supports have notches to accommodate the separate wall.

  • Patent number: 5174076
Abstract: A ridge vent for a hip roof comprising a one piece plastic body including a base wall having transversely spaced rows of integral vanes extending from one surface thereof. The vanes of adjacent rows are positioned such that the vanes define a sinuous path. Preferably, one of each of the rows has the wings extending at an acute angle to the axis of the walls and the other row or each set of rows has the wings extending at an oppositely directed acute axis to the longitudinal axis of the wall toward the wings of the one row. Thus, air is vented through sinuous paths outwardly when the vent is positioned with the wings engaging the roof and the base wall spaced from the roof. A wall is provided over the free ends of the wings and includes a longitudinally extending portion that extends from the wall toward the base wall.

  • Patent number: 5060431
Abstract: A ridge roof vent adapted to be mounted on the ridge of a roof and comprising a top wall that is spaced from the remainder of the vent and is adapted to receive overlapping pieces of shingle roofing material comprising transversely extending primary indicia provided along the length of the ridge roof vent and including secondary transverse indicia associated with the transverse primary indicia in repetitive series. Each series of transverse primary indicia spans a distance less than the length of a shingle piece. The transverse primary indicia associated with the secondary indicia are positioned such that when a first shingle piece is applied from one end, the end of the shingle piece will be positioned between a pair of equally spaced secondary indicia and can be used to provide an overlap of the ends of the shingle pieces without the need for measurement.

  • Patent number: 5000409
Abstract: A one piece wall mounting bracket comprising a plastic body including a front wall and an integral peripheral wall extending from the front wall and having a free edge. Diametrically opposed portions of the free edge of the peripheral wall are formed with notches such that those peripheral portions can engage siding on wall of a building. The portions with the notches are preferably convex to firmly engage the siding. These wall portions can be readily severed to form a straight edge. A portion of the free edge of the wall is formed with a groove for receiving caulking. The groove is defined by a radially peripheral bead on the free edge which includes spaced walls forming the groove for receiving caulking compounds.
