  • Publication number: 20110063062
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a transformer that includes forming a disc-wound coil using a plurality of pre-formed cooling ducts. Each cooling duct may be supported by a support pipe secured between walls of the cooling duct, or by a removable insert. First and second conductor layers are formed, each of which include plurality of disc windings arranged in an axial direction of the disc-wound coil. A spacer layer is formed between the first and second conductor layers to form a plurality of axially-extending passages. The cooling ducts are slid into the axially-extending passages so as to be disposed between the first and second conductor layers.

  • Publication number: 20020019768
Abstract: This invention includes a method and system for managing advertisements. The method and system of invention utilizes a searchable database containing advertisements accessible by a remote user, choosing the media environment desired for a proposed advertisement, searching said database for advertisements in the chosen media environment, selecting an advertisement and performing any modifications required for the proposed advertisement, and assigning each published advertisement a unique identifier whereby responses can be identified as resulting from a particular published advertisement.

  • Patent number: 5974574
Abstract: A method of checking a large and/or replicated databases includes forming a position sensitive checksum for each entry of the database to be used in the check. The checksums are then exclusive Ored with one another to form a first database checksum. Periodically, the checksums are again created from each of the entries of the check and a second database checksum formed and compared to the first for a match that indicate checked entries of the database have not changed. In another embodiment, a modification to one of the check entries may be provided, accompanied by a master checksum indicative of what the first checksum should be after the entry is modified. The database entry is modified, and a position checksum value for the entry as modified is created.

  • Patent number: 5679251
Abstract: A diesel engine secondary oil filter is formed from a punched tinned steel spiral lock seam center tube, with a flanged cap at one end and a flanged threaded outlet at the other end. A layer of polyester non-woven media is wrapped in one wind around the center tube. A yarn is wound is a 27-diamond pattern in a first yarn section out to two inches outer diameter. The yarn is tied off. Knitted socks are first placed partially on axial ends of the first wound section, leaving half of the socks extending over the ends. A sheet of activated carbon paper about 1/6 of an inch thick and about 52 inches long is rolled onto the filter cartridge with about nine turns. The carbon paper is made of a cellulose paper impregnated with about 50% activated carbon powder by weight.

  • Patent number: 5552065
Abstract: A method of filtering internal combustion and industrial engine oil includes providing a specially wound filter element in a canister and passing the liquid through it slowly (e.g., 1-2 quarts per minute). The filter element includes a length of cotton/cellulose paper composition yard wound on a core in an irregular winding pattern such that some layers filter smaller (e.g., 1 micron) particles and others further from the core filter larger (e.g., 5 micron) particles. A filter element constructed according to the invention includes a core having a hollow interior, a perforated outer surface in fluid communication with the hollow interior, an open first end in fluid communication with the hollow interior, and a closed second end. A length of yarn of cotton and cellulose paper composition is wound in a series of layers over the outer surface of the core in the irregular winding pattern such that some layers closer the core filter particles down to a smaller size than do other layers further from the core.

  • Patent number: 4845194
Abstract: An improvement in the large-scale recovery of vancomycin-type glycopeptide antibiotics which comprises (1) commingling the fermentation medium in which the antibiotic is produced with a polystyrene divinylbenzene resin such as Dow XFS-43278.00, (2) separating the resin from the medium and (3) eluting the antibiotic from the resin. This improvement avoids preliminary filtration and pH adjustment of the broth, simplifies waste-disposal problems and eliminates antibiotic losses due to mycelial adsorption and filtration.

  • Patent number: 3996992
Abstract: An elongated movable water cooled mold of any desired cross section has an open bottom end which is lowered into a pot of molten metal a predetermined distance with the metal being pulled into the mold under vacuum operated by suitable controls for establishing the desired length of the casting or billet. Water is supplied to the mold while still in the pot to permit the casting to harden and the mold is then removed therefrom and moved to a position close to floor level where termination of the water supply allows the contained heat in the casting to reheat the mold and expand it sufficiently so that the casting can drop free of the mold upon release of the vacuum.
