  • Patent number: 11836314
Abstract: An apparatus includes a memory and one or more processors coupled to the memory. The one or more processors are configured to determine a plurality of input areas of a touchpad associated with a computing device. The touchpad is associated with a sensitivity setting that indicates a first sensitivity for a first input area of the touchpad and that further indicates a second sensitivity for a second input area of the touchpad that is different than the first input area. The one or more processors are further configured to receive user input from a user input device associated with the computing device. The one or more processors are further configured to change the sensitivity setting based on the user input. Changing the sensitivity setting includes reducing the first sensitivity.

  • Patent number: 11832069
Abstract: A portable information handling system is assembled and disassembled by a keystone assembly that couples at an upper surface of the portable housing to overlap a keyboard assembly that covers processing components disposed in the portable housing. The keyboard assembly includes a membrane that has contact switches to detect key input presses and is supported by a housing cover that extends members into a housing interior to hold components in position, such as a speaker. The speaker has spring-biased connection pins with a dampener at the speaker housing to dampen vibrations. Contact pads extending from the keyboard membrane communicate speaker signals to the speaker to play audible sounds though the spring-biased connection pins.

  • Patent number: 11797176
Abstract: A computing device may segment an input area of an user input device (e.g., the surface of a trackpad) into multiple subsets. At a given time, the computing device may use one of the multiple subsets for mapping to a display device (e.g., instead of mapping the entire input area to the display device). To illustrate, based on receiving user input in one of the multiple subsets, the computing device may map that subset to the display device so that the subset is represented at the display device (e.g., without representing the other subsets at the display device). By segmenting the input area, an aspect ratio of a segment may be matched to an aspect area of the display device. Accordingly, distortions associated with an aspect ratio mismatch between the input area and the display device may be reduced or avoided.

  • Patent number: 11347461
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-usable medium are disclosed for implementing automated adjustment of extended desktop monitor configuration settings in an information handling system (IHS) based on acoustic analysis of audio emitted from a speaker of an extended desktop monitor and received at multiple microphones of the IHS. In certain embodiments, the multiple microphones are in fixed alignment with a built-in monitor of the IHS. As such, the audio received at the multiple microphones can be used to determine the position of the extended desktop monitor with respect to the built-in monitor. Various embodiments include corresponding computer-implemented methods, computer systems, apparatus, and computer programs recorded on one or more non-transient computer storage devices.

  • Patent number: 11334120
Abstract: An information handling system kickstand hinge with a minimum profile transitions a kickstand between extended and retract positions with a first axle of a stand member that slides between forward and rear positions within guides or a rail housing and a second axle of the stand member that couples to the rail housing with riser arms disposed on opposing sides of the stand member. A first torque engine integrated in the riser housing resists sliding motion of a torque member engages with the first axle. A second torque engine integrated in the stand member resists rotation about the second axle. A spring aligned with the torque member biases the stand member towards the extended position to aid in extension of the kickstand from the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 11003223
Abstract: A retention mechanism of a dual-body computing system, including a bracket coupled to a first body of the computing system, the bracket translates along a first direction, wherein a cable assembly is attached the bracket; and springs coupled to the bracket to facilitate translating of the bracket along the first direction, wherein, as the bracket progresses from a first state to a second state based on a positioning of each body of the dual-body computing system, the first and the second springs exert an increasing force on the bracket to maintain a level of tension on the cable assembly; wherein, as the bracket progresses from the second state to the first state based on the positioning of each body of the dual-body computing system, the first and the second springs exert a decreasing force on the bracket to retract the cable within one of the bodies of the computing system.

  • Patent number: 10989978
Abstract: An information handling system peripheral keyboard sized to rest on an information handling display to accept key inputs has a bottom surface with a selectively opaque layer that transitions between transparent and opaque states based upon a usage scenario. For instance, the keyboard has a transparent state when placed on the display to allow light to pass through the keyboard and illuminate the keys. When removed from the display, an opaque state hides keyboard internals so as not to detract from the keyboard appearance. In one embodiment, the selectively opaque layer is an electronic ink that presents a product brand on the keyboard bottom surface when in the opaque state.
