  • Publication number: 20140112915
Abstract: IL-18 participates in both innate and acquired immunity. The bioactivity of IL-18 is negatively regulated by the IL-18 binding protein (IL18BP), a naturally occurring and highly specific inhibitor. This soluble protein forms a complex with free IL-18 preventing its interaction with the IL-18 receptor, thus neutralizing and inhibiting its biological activity. The present invention discloses binding molecules, in particular antibodies or fragments thereof, which bind IL-18 and do not bind IL-18 bound to IL-18BP (IL-18/IL-18BP complex). Apart from its physiological role, IL-18 has been shown to mediate a variety of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The binding molecules of the inventions may be used as therapeutic molecules for treating IL-18-related autoimmune and inflammatory diseases or as diagnostic tools for characterizing, detecting and/or measuring IL-18 not bound to IL-18BP as component of the total IL-18 pool.

  • Publication number: 20130330324
Abstract: This invention relates to antibodies or fragments thereof which interact with HER family of receptors, e.g., HER3 receptor. In particular, it relates to antibodies or fragments thereof that recognize a conformational epitope of HER3 receptor comprising residues from both domains 2 and 4 resulting in inhibition of both ligand-dependent and ligand-independent signal transduction; and allow ligand binding (e.g., neuregulin), whilst preventing ligand-induced activation of signal transduction. These antibodies or fragments can be used to treat a number of diseases or disorders characterized by increased levels of HER3 expression (e.g., esophageal cancer). These antibodies or fragments can be used to treat a number of diseases or disorders characterized by the antibodys or fragments ability to decrease tissue weight (e.g., prostate or uterine weights) or to induce atrophy of tissue (e.g., atrophy of male breast).

  • Patent number: 8561375
Abstract: A system for producing and transporting portions of food includes a filling machine for continuously transporting a stream of food, a separating device for dividing portions from the transported food stream, and a transport device for delivering the portions to a subsequent processing device. To prevent fluctuations in portion size and weight, the system further includes a sensor unit for generating a portion request signal in response to a portion request from the subsequent processing device. The sensor unit outputs the portion request signal to the filling machine, which is designed to control the continuous transportation of the food stream using the portion request signal. The system is operable to synchronize the entire line, including the filling machine, the separating device, the transport device, and the subsequent processing device.

  • Publication number: 20130251703
Abstract: The present invention relates to antibodies or fragments thereof that bind to a non-linear epitope within domain 3 of the HER3 receptor and inhibit both ligand-dependent and ligand-independent signal transduction. The invention also relates antibodies or fragments thereof that bind to amino acid residues within domains 3-4 of HER3 and inhibit both ligand-dependent and ligand-independent signal transduction; and compositions and methods of use of such antibodies or fragments thereof.

  • Patent number: 6976854
Abstract: An arrangement for connecting the terminal contacts of an electronic component to electrical contacts formed on a printed circuit board. An at least partly flexible conductor support having a plurality of interconnects provides an electrical connection between the terminal contacts of the electronic component and the electrical contacts of the printed circuit board such that a portion of the conductor support that is connected to the printed circuit board is arranged on an end face of the printed circuit board and extends perpendicularly in relation to the upper and lower surfaces of the printed circuit board. Furthermore, a conductor support formed with relatively narrow middle portion is provided to facilitate such an arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6856769
Abstract: An optical transceiver module includes an electro-optical transmission assembly and an electro-optical receiving assembly both mounted on a common printed circuit board and enclosed by a top shell and a bottom shell of an electromagnetically shielding transceiver module. The housing has optical connection openings and an electrical connection opening. The serial optical signals of a first Bit-rate of several Gbit/s and more are converted to serial electrical signals and are multiplexed to parallel electrical signals at a lower second Bit-rate. Reducing the Bit-rate and thus reducing the electromagnetic frequency reduces the risk of electromagnetic interference on the printed circuit main-board. The optical connection openings have a first and a second gasket for reducing the electromagnetic radiation emerging out of the housing through the optical connection openings.
