Publication number: 20180259379Abstract: There is disclosed inhaler testing apparatus, in which at least one flow regulation valve, such as a needle valve, is located within a conduit. The flow regulation valve divides the conduit into inlet and outlet sides of the valve. The inlet side is arranged for connection to an inhaler and the outlet side for connection to a vacuum source. An electric motor provides variable adjustment of a flow opening through the valve. At least one sensor senses pressure or flow rate in the inlet side and a controller automatically adjusts the flow opening through the valve in response to readings from the at least one sensor. The apparatus may also comprise a shut off valve, such as a solenoid valve.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2018Publication date: September 13, 2018Inventors: Mark Andrew COPLEY, Benjamin BRADLEY, Ian Christopher EVANS, Jonathan Charles Stephen WRIGHT

Patent number: 10064997Abstract: A conventional syringe defines a longitudinal axis and includes a syringe barrel having a syringe barrel flange laterally extending from an open proximal end of the syringe barrel and a plunger advanceable into the syringe barrel. A rotatable finger flange for such a syringe includes identical first and second flange components, each having an attachment member configured to releasably engage the syringe barrel flange and/or the other flange component, and a flange member laterally extending therefrom. The first and second flange component are engageable and rotatable relative to one another about the longitudinal axis between a non-use position, wherein the first flange member overlies the second flange member to reduce the finger flange footprint, and a use position, wherein the first flange member and the second flange member are angularly spaced apart from one another to provide a finger flange having a greater lateral extent than the syringe barrel flange.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2014Date of Patent: September 4, 2018Assignee: WEST PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Christopher Evans, Brian Costello, Christopher Gieda, Raymond Protasiewicz

Patent number: 10004854Abstract: A needle safety device has an outer tube within which a syringe barrel from which a cannula extends is slideably receivable. A collar in the outer tube is moveable relative thereto and rotatably attachable to the distal end of the barrel. A force member biases the outer tube in a distal direction. A cannula shield able to receive the cannula therein is in the outer tube. The cannula shield is fixedly attached to a cap removably attached to the outer tube. A track is formed in the inner surface of the outer tube. A pin extending radially outwardly from the collar slidingly engages the track. In a pre-injection position, the cannula is entirely within the outer tube. In a full-insertion position, the cannula extends beyond the outer tube. In a locked position, the cannula is irreversibly retained entirely within the outer tube.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2015Date of Patent: June 26, 2018Assignee: WEST PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Christopher Evans, Brian Costello, Christopher Gieda, Raymond Protasiewicz, Kristofer Meehan

Publication number: 20170250853Abstract: Embodiments improve application gateway architecture by pushing secure managed service boundaries. Managed services that were previously available directly in application gateway code are separated from application gateway code and exposed to service clients in a controlled, secured manner via a RESTful API layer dedicated to the management and interaction of deployed managed services. The separation can be realized in management agents. A management agent receives a service request from an application and makes an API call to the dedicated management API layer of the managing application gateway. The application may run within a managed container on a user device. Responsive to the API call, the application gateway sends a control or configuration message to the management agent over HTTP. The management agent controls or configures the managed service to function or behave as dictated by the application gateway.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2017Publication date: August 31, 2017Inventor: Rhys Christopher Evans

A first distance measured from a geometric center of the insertion hole to the first distal end of the flange portion is less than a second distance measured from the geometric center of the insertion hole to the second distal end. The first distance defines a first section of the flange portion and the second distance defines a second section of the flange portion. The first section has a cross-sectional shape that is one of at least slightly concave and at least slightly convex and the second section has a cross-sectional shape that is the other of at least slightly convex and at least slightly concave.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2013Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc.Inventors: Christopher Evans, Brian Costello, Christopher Gieda

Patent number: 9460092Abstract: A media asset recommendation service is described. In embodiments, friends of a user are identified in a social graph that is associated with the user, and interactions with media assets by the friends of the user are compiled. Friend interaction data for each of the media assets can be determined from the media assets, the social graph, and the interactions with the media assets by the friends of the user. When a selection of one of the media assets is received from the user via a user device, the friend interaction data that is associated with the media asset selected by the user is communicated to the user device.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2009Date of Patent: October 4, 2016Assignee: ROVI TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATIONInventors: Shawn M. Publication number: 20160206829Abstract: A recoil reducing needle shield for covering a drug container with a needle includes an outer shell, including an upper portion, a lower portion, and at least one flexible interface positioned therebetween, defining a fulcrum. Radially inward flexing of the upper portion causes radially outward flexing of the lower portion about the flexible interface. An inner cover includes an open proximal end, a closed distal end, and a needle cavity defined therein for receiving a portion of the drug container including the needle. At least a portion of the inner cover is disposed within the outer shell. The open proximal end of the inner cover is coupled to the lower portion of the outer shell, such that radially outward flexing of the lower portion stretches the open proximal end of the inner cover, thereby reducing an initial pull-off force required to remove the needle shield from the drug container.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2015Publication date: July 21, 2016Inventors: Raymond PROTASIEWICZ, Brian COSTELLO, Christopher EVANS, Christopher GIEDA
