  • Publication number: 20150328408
Abstract: A conventional syringe includes a syringe barrel having a syringe barrel flange laterally extending from an open proximal end of the syringe barrel and a syringe plunger for advancement into the syringe barrel through the open proximal end. A foldable finger flange for such a syringe comprises an attachment member configured to be removably mounted onto the syringe barrel flange, and a flange member pivotably attached to the attachment member. At least a portion of the flange member is pivotable between a use position, wherein said portion of the flange member extends generally perpendicular to the syringe barrel, thereby providing a flange having a greater extent than the syringe barrel flange, and a non-use position, wherein said portion of the flange member does not extend generally perpendicular to the syringe barrel.

  • Publication number: 20150246182
Abstract: A needle safety device has an outer tube within which a syringe barrel from which a cannula extends is slideably receivable. A collar in the outer tube is moveable relative thereto and rotatably attachable to the distal end of the barrel. A force member biases the outer tube in a distal direction. A cannula shield able to receive the cannula therein is in the outer tube. The cannula shield is fixedly attached to a cap removably attached to the outer tube. A track is formed in the inner surface of the outer tube. A pin extending radially outwardly from the collar slidingly engages the track. In a pre-injection position, the cannula is entirely within the outer tube. In a full-insertion position, the cannula extends beyond the outer tube. In a locked position, the cannula is irreversibly retained entirely within the outer tube.

  • Patent number: 9084854
Abstract: A rigid needle shield for covering a distal end of a syringe is provided. The rigid needle shield includes an elongated flexible member connected to a sidewall of the rigid needle shield for moving the rigid needle shield between a first relaxed position and a second flexed position. When in the first relaxed position, the elongated flexible member is substantially within the rigid needle shield. However, when the elongated flexible member is moved to the second flexed position, the elongated flexible member extends beyond a proximal end of the rigid needle shield to engage a needle hub or a shoulder of the syringe to move the rigid needle shield distally relative to the syringe.

  • Patent number: 8995683
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and devices for adapting a ringtone in accordance with ambient noise. In one embodiment a method includes processing an ambient noise signal to determine an ambient noise volume. When there is an incoming communication and it is determined that the ambient noise has a low ambient noise volume, a method can include generating a ringtone having a ringtone volume that is initially a low volume and increasing the ringtone volume over a predetermined period of time. A method can include applying a filter to the ringtone signal to increase a signal-to-noise ratio, the filter configured to increase an amplitude of a frequency that is not one of the predominant frequencies of the ambient noise and that the transducer is configured to output according to the transducer frequency response. In another embodiment, a second transducer may generate a ringtone output in addition to the first transducer.
