  • Patent number: 9557640
Abstract: A method for ordering block copolymers including forming a first layer having a first preference mode; and providing a reactive agent in selected regions of the first layer that modifies the selected regions to a second preference mode, wherein the selected regions define other regions of the first layer retaining the first preference mode thereby forming an alignment layer for block copolymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 13, 2015
Date of Patent: January 31, 2017
Assignee: Board of Regents, University of Texas System
Inventors: C. Grant Willson, Christopher Ellison, Michael Maher, Christopher Bates, Dustin Janes

  • Patent number: 8003946
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for detecting localized defects, such as hot spots or wet spots, present in a mat of mineral fibers bonded by a binder, including using a microwave radiation of frequency ranging between 1 and 50 GHz, preferably between 5 and 10 GHz, the total power of the emitted electromagnetic wave ranging between 0.1 and 5 watts, preferably of the order of 1 watt. The invention also concerns a device for implementing said method as well as an installation for continuously making mineral fiber mats containing said device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 9, 2007

  • Publication number: 20100139324
Abstract: An internal combustion burner including a combustion chamber supplied with fuel and with oxidant and at least two combustion devices supplied with oxidant and with fuel. Combining two combustion devices of distinct configurations, which respectively generate two distinct types of flames with a system for cooling the walls of the burner by introducing air along the walls, makes it possible to obtain a burner that supplies a combustion gas temperature of up to 1700° C., while at the same time being easily cooled and occupying very little space so that it can, for example, be housed in an existing installation used in the manufacture of rock wool or glass wool.

  • Patent number: 7658609
Abstract: An internal combustion burner, especially for attenuation of mineral fibers, and including a combustion chamber, into which at least one duct for feeding fuel and oxidizer opens, and provided with an expansion orifice. The combustion chamber is provided with at least one flame stabilizing element, the geometry of the walls of which is chosen to create a confinement zone in which at least part of the combustion between oxidizer and fuel takes place.

  • Publication number: 20060289352
Abstract: The separation of hydrocarbon mixtures comprising a polymerizable vinyl containing polyester of the formula I: Each R and R2 is independently a C6-C20 aromatic residue or a C1-C20 aliphatic residue. Each R1 is independently hydrogen or C1-C5 alkyl; “j” is an integer in the range of 1-1000. Z is a heteroatom or two hydrogen atoms. The invention is also directed to the method of preparing the separation membrane.

  • Patent number: 5131935
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for fibring mineral wool by free centrifugation. An auxiliary gas current is generated at a distance from the centrifuging wheels in substantially the same direction as a main gas current which is emitted in the immediate proximity of the centrifuging wheels. This auxiliary gas current is obtained by passing air between the centrifuging wheels and/or through use of a supplementary blower ring. The invention applies particularly to the production of rock wool.
