Abstract: A variable capacity centrifugal pump assembly including a bearing housing, an impeller shaft rotatably mounted within the bearing housing and projecting therefrom, a volute circumscribing a cavity therein, a plurality of differently sized impellers for mounting on the impeller shaft within the cavity, a wear plate secured to the bearing housing and a volute and defining a downstream end portion of the cavity, a plurality of differently configured annular front covers for mounting to an upstream end of the volute for varying the size and configuration of the cavity to accommodate one of a selected plurality of differently sized impellers. The suction intake is mounted to the upstream end of the selected cover for communicating the pipe assembly with inlet hoses of varying size whereby the capacity of the pump assembly can be varied by the selective matching of the front covers with the impellers.

Abstract: A system and method for regulating torque transmitted via a torque converter can include providing a lock up clutch between a crankshaft and transmission of a vehicle. A position sensor can output data indicative of at least one of an engaged position of the lock-up clutch, a transitional position of the lock-up clutch, and a disengaged position of the lock-up clutch. An engine speed sensor can output data indicative of rotational speed of the crankshaft. A controller can be placed in electrical communication with the engine speed sensor and the position sensor and configured to determine when actuation of the lock-up clutch is desired. The controller can be configured to determine a torque reduction target based on certain variables, for example, engine acceleration. The controller can then signal the engine to output torque substantially equal to the torque reduction target when conditions exist that warrant torque reduction.

Abstract: A transportable barbeque support and combination allows for safe transport and easy sliding access to a full size barbeque, fuel tanks, and coolers. A base is mounted securely to the truck bed, trailer, or RV and a sliding frame is movable thereon for movement between a transport position and an operating position. The barbeque is fit to a distal end of the sling frame and storage including fuel tanks at an inside or proximal end. A heat shield can be positioned between the barbeque and storage. A locking mechanism between the sliding frame and base ensures the barbeque remains securely in either the transport or operative positions.

Abstract: An approach is provided for real time stimulus triggered by brain state and includes receiving data that indicates a brain state and a set of one or more stimuli associated with the brain state. Onset of an instance of the brain state is detected in a subject. In response to detecting onset of the instance, application to the subject of a stimulus of the set is initiated before the instance ends. In some embodiments, the brain state is determined based on a range of values for a function of brain signal data, wherein the range of values is associated with desired performance in response to an associated stimulus. The approach can enhance performance, enhance learning or enhance the probing of impact of that state on perception, action or cognition.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions suitable for use as sunscreens which comprise a UVA sunscreen active and a carrier suitable for application to the skin. These compositions are substantially free of benzylidene camphor derivatives and provide excellent stability, efficiency, and UV protection efficacy in a safe, economical and aesthetically appealing manner. The compositions have a Sunscreen Efficiency Index of at least about 1.75, a UVA Efficacy Value of at least about 0.5, a UVA Photostability Index of at least about 0.85, a UVB Photostability Index of at least about 0.85, and a Transparency Value of less than about 10. Methods of using the compositions are also disclosed.

False alarms from mechanical wave energy are prevented.
