  • Patent number: 5827508
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions which are useful for providing protection to the skin of humans from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. In particular the present invention relates to compositions having improved chemical, physical, and photostability. These compositions comprise from about 0.1% to about 10% of a dibenzoylmethane sunscreen compound, from about 0.1% to about 20% of a surface-treated zinc oxide, and a carrier suitable for application to the skin.

  • Patent number: 5103990
Abstract: A single service container having a hollow body and a cap with a portion extending interiorly of the body. The cap is mounted to seal a wide mouth style of opening formed at the upper end of the body. Interiorly of the mouth, a portion of the cap extends downwardly so as to cooperate with the positive internal pressure of the container and assist in sealing the cap on the body. A conical ring is formed on the periphery of the dome and engages an undercut interior surface adjacent to the mouth. The container further includes means for sealingly engaging the perimeter of the mouth. To open the container, a pulling member is pulled thereby severing the sealing engagements between the cap and the mouth, releasing the internal pressure and opening the container.

  • Patent number: 5069345
Abstract: A single service container having a plastic body and a non-removable plastic cap. The cap and body are made of materials which are compatible to one another for recycling purposes. A tear strip is defined in the cap by a pair of score lines which extend substantially across the cap. By lifting a pulling member that is integrally formed with the tear strip, the tear strip separates from the remainder of the cap along the score lines and provides the container with an opening through which its contents may be consumed. In this manner, a container is provided which has no components that need to be separated prior to recycling.

  • Patent number: 4617166
Abstract: A method and apparatus for blow molding articles with deeply recessed edges utilizing mold halves each of which consists of a center section and end sections that are relatively movable in a direction lengthwise of the mold to enable both lengthening and shortening of the mold. Rack and pinion assemblies are associated with the mold sections so that in response to movement of one end section toward or away from the center section, the other end section is similarly moved toward or away from the center section to thereby enable selective lengthwise lengthening or shortening of the mold halves. This enables the mold halves to be shortened after they are closed on a parison to thereby compress the shape of the parison within the mold to thereby move portions of the parison closer to the edges of the mold cavity. This facilitates a uniform distribution of plastic material along the surface of the mold cavity when the parison is blown into conformity with the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 4609340
Abstract: An accumulator head for blow molding machines having a diverter sleeve that cooperates with other components in the head to form annular concentric flow paths for plastic material between the inlet and outlet of the diverter sleeve to divide the plastic material into two arcuate paths which subsequently meet and split into two more arcuate paths in which plastic material flows in a reverse direction relative to the first two paths and is directed to the diverter outlet. The diverter sleeve thus insures intimate mixing of the plastic material and eliminates the likelihood of a weld line in the plastic material. In addition, the diverter sleeve is mounted for up and down movement with respect to the inlet for plastic material to thereby eliminate dead points in the plastic flow path and facilitate changeover from one material to another in the head.
