  • Publication number: 20230215690
Abstract: Methods and systems for creating attachments between a sample manipulator and a sample within a charged particle systems are disclosed herein. Methods include translating a sample manipulator so that it is proximate to a sample, and milling portions of the sample manipulator such that portions are removed. The portion of the sample manipulator proximate to the sample is composed of a high sputter yield material, and the high sputter yield material may be the material milled with the charged particle beam such that it is removed from the sample manipulator. According to the present disclosure, the portions of the sample manipulator are milled such that at least some of the removed high sputter yield material redeposits to form an attachment between the sample manipulator and the sample.

  • Publication number: 20230165585
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for creating an anastomosis or fistula between the gallbladder and an adjacent organ are disclosed. First, a parent magnet, typically a permanent magnet, is deployed in the stomach, small intestine, or another organ adjacent to the gallbladder, and a mating daughter material is deployed in the gallbladder in order to create a magnet-compression anastomosis. The gallbladder may then be ablated or otherwise functionally inactivated through the anastomosis. Another aspect of the invention relates to an all-in-one surgical kit that contains all the necessary specialized tools for a surgeon to perform the procedure.

  • Patent number: 11530765
Abstract: A sealed joint assembly for transmitting high temperature and high pressure fluid between adjoining ducts in, for example, an aircraft bleed air system, includes a gimbal ring and two annular clevises. Each clevis includes a pair of axially-extending lobes that each includes a bore hole extending therethrough. The bore holes of the clevis lobes may each align with a respective bore hole formed within the gimbal ring, through which a pin may be inserted to couple the clevises to the gimbal ring. The clevises and gimbal ring may be formed using additive manufacturing, to produce component geometries and topologies that reduce the overall weight of the joint assembly while maintaining or improving its structural integrity. For example, the clevis lobes may include a plurality of gaps, such that the remaining material forms a shear web. The gimbal ring may also include strut or truss networks to enhance structural integrity.

  • Patent number: 11513928
Abstract: A variable power bus (VPB) cable, such as a USB Type-C cable, is validated for actual current capacity with respect to a specified power rating for the cable. The power cable validation is performed when the cable is connected to a power storage adapter and a portable information handling system. The validation includes, prior to negotiating a power delivery contract for electrical power to be supplied to the information handling system from the VPB port via the VPB cable, applying a first voltage to the VPB cable to identify a first indication of a current capacity of the VPB cable; and when the first indication confirms that the current capacity of the VPB cable corresponds to a specified power rating for the VPB cable, enabling the power delivery contract to be negotiated according to the specified power rating, otherwise blocking the power delivery contract using the VPB cable.
