  • Publication number: 20200407423
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of purifying albumin-fusion proteins to reduce the level of oxidation of susceptible amino acid residues. The method comprises an affinity matrix chromatography step and an anion exchange chromatography step. The purified albumin-fusion proteins have low levels of oxidation and retain their enhanced half-life in vivo and its bioactivity. In some embodiments, the albumin-fusion protein comprises a scaffold, such as human Tenascin C scaffold. Compositions comprising the albumin-fusion protein are further disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10874397
Abstract: Magnetic anastomosis devices constructed from magnetic segments coupled together with members that help the devices spontaneously transform from a linear delivery configuration to a polygonal deployment configuration. When two devices are joined together over tissue(s), the compressive force causes the tissue(s) to necrose and form an anastomosis. By altering the arrangement of the magnetic poles of the magnetic segments in the devices, the magnetic interaction between paired devices can be altered. This property gives surgeons flexibility in choosing how much attractive force the devices will experience during a procedure.

  • Publication number: 20200393067
Abstract: A sealed joint assembly for transmitting high temperature and high pressure fluid between adjoining ducts in, for example, an aircraft bleed air system, includes a gimbal ring and two annular clevises. Each clevis includes a pair of axially-extending lobes that each includes a bore hole extending therethrough. The bore holes of the clevis lobes may each align with a respective bore hole formed within the gimbal ring, through which a pin may be inserted to couple the clevises to the gimbal ring. The clevises and gimbal ring may be formed using additive manufacturing, to produce component geometries and topologies that reduce the overall weight of the joint assembly while maintaining or improving its structural integrity. For example, the clevis lobes may include a plurality of gaps, such that the remaining material forms a shear web. The gimbal ring may also include strut or truss networks to enhance structural integrity.

  • Patent number: 10813642
Abstract: The invention is an implantable magnetic anastomosis device having an exoskeleton that directs self-assembly. The design allows the device to be delivered in a linear configuration using a minimally-invasive technique, such as endoscopy or laparoscopy, whereupon the device self-assembles into, e.g., a polygon. A coupled set of polygons define a circumscribed tissue that can be perforated, or the tissue can be allowed to naturally necrose and perforate. The device can be used to create anastomoses in a variety of tissues, such as tissues found in the gastrointestinal, renal/urinary, and reproductive tracts. New procedures for using anastomoses, e.g., surgical bypass are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10761210
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining ranges to a target disposed behind a transparent surface are described. A target acquisition system receives a plurality of lidar returns, at least some of which are from a target and at least some of which are from a transparent surface. The lidar returns correspond to a portion of a lidar signal generated by a lidar, directed toward the target, and reflected back to the lidar from either the target or the transparent surface. A range measurement for each of the plurality of lidar returns is determined. The target acquisition system generates a histogram of the range measurements. The histogram includes an array including a plurality of range bins. Each range bin defines a unique portion of a predetermined distance out from the lidar. The histogram further includes a count associated with each respective range bin.

  • Publication number: 20200222049
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for creating an anastomosis or fistula between the gallbladder and an adjacent organ are disclosed. First, a parent magnet, typically a permanent magnet, is deployed in the stomach, small intestine, or another organ adjacent to the gallbladder, and a mating daughter material is deployed in the gallbladder in order to create a magnet-compression anastomosis. The gallbladder may then be ablated or otherwise functionally inactivated through the anastomosis. Another aspect of the invention relates to an all-in-one surgical kit that contains all the necessary specialized tools for a surgeon to perform the procedure.

  • Publication number: 20200125467
Abstract: An information handling system (IHS) includes a battery management unit (BMU) and an embedded controller (EC). The EC is operable for detecting a trigger for monitoring power consumption in light of a first condition, capturing a state of the IHS, writing data representing the state to a power profile log, annotating the log with an identifier of a point at which logging associated with the first condition begins, obtaining, from the BMU, power data representing an amount of current flowing from or charge delivered by a battery, writing at least some power data to the log, detecting a trigger for ending monitoring associated with the first condition, annotating the log with an identifier of a point at which logging associated with the first condition ends, and generating, dependent on the annotations of the identifiers in the log, a power profile report indicating power consumption associated with the first condition.

  • Patent number: 10620679
Abstract: A power storage adapter (PSA) may be connected to multiple battery-powered devices. A PSA controller may be configured to receive respective requests to supply electrical power to a first device and a second device, to determine that the power storage adapter does not have sufficient power supply capacity to satisfy both requests, to determine that a respective state of charge (SOC) of at least one device battery is below a first battery SOC threshold, and to prioritize supplying electrical power to a selected one of the devices at the expense of the other device based on a battery charging prioritization policy. The selected device may be prioritized until the battery SOC exceeds a battery SOC threshold or for a predetermined time period. The battery charging prioritization policy may specify relative charging priorities for the device batteries and a PSA battery dependent on whether AC line power is available.

  • Patent number: 10608443
Abstract: An information handling system may include a main processor, a battery, multiple temperature sensors for obtaining temperature values associated with the battery, a processor, and memory media accessible to the processor. The memory media may store instructions executable by the processor for receiving a respective temperature value from each of the temperature sensors and calculating a battery temperature distribution value dependent on the received temperature values, including determining a difference between two temperature values. The instructions may be further executable for determining a respective value for each of one or more battery control parameters dependent on the battery temperature distribution value, and setting each of the battery control parameters to the determined value.

  • Publication number: 20200083740
Abstract: Techniques for power source management in an information handling system (IHS) include detecting connection of multiple power sources to the IHS through respective DC adapters, obtaining data indicating the capabilities of each power source, obtaining data indicating a system load for the IHS, and generating, based on the obtained data, a load management plan specifying a target combined input power amount for power supplied by the multiple power sources and respective amounts of electrical power to be supplied by a single selected power source or by multiple selected power sources. The techniques also include combining the power supplied by each of the selected power sources into a combined input power and supplying the combined input power to the IHS. Prior to the combining, the voltage of the power supplied by a power source may be stepped up or down to a common voltage, or a power source may be de-rated.
