  • Patent number: 7751308
Abstract: A method for synchronizing and identifying the cell code (scrambling code) of a cell in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based cellular communication system is provided. In this method, desired cell is found by utilizing a frame structure of OFDM symbols and through a corresponding cell search procedure, where the frame structure has periodic signal pattern and contains the information about the cell code of the desired cell in common pilot channel (CPICH) signal. And, the cell search method utilizes the periodic property of the frame structure to detect frame timing, and the correlation property of CPICH signal to identify the cell code. The cell search method of the present invention offers the advantages of good link quality, fast acquisition, and low power consumption.

  • Patent number: 7643906
Abstract: An obstacle and cliff avoiding system is disclosed, which is substantially a movable chassis having at least a displacement sensor arranged thereon. In a preferred embodiment, each displacement sensor is tilted by a specific angle with respect to a surface detected thereby while being driven to move in circle by a rotating apparatus for enabling the same to scan a defined fan-like area or the circular area around the chassis in a circulating manner. As each displacement sensor is tilted by the specific angle and is initiated to issue a working signal, the paths of signal emission and reception of each sensor are defined by the specific angle, whereas the reflected working signal received by the sensor is sent to a control unit to be compared with the working signal so that the control unit is able to evaluate whether there is an obstacle or a drop in front of the moving direction of the movable chassis and thus control the chassis to maneuver around the obstacle or the drop.

  • Publication number: 20090317017
Abstract: A method and system map high dynamic range images to low dynamic range images. An input set of luminance values can be divided into separate regions corresponding to particular luminance value ranges. A region value can be determined for each region. Based at least in part on the region value, a quantity of range assigned to each region for tone mapping can be dynamically adjusted until each region meets a decision criterion or stopping condition, referred to herein as “concentration.” A region can be said to be concentrated if all luminance values therein are within a concentration interval or range. After a region is concentrated, it can be tone-mapped by quantization.

  • Publication number: 20090258610
Abstract: An apparatus for multiple modulations with a transition mode in a baseband transmitter and method therefor. An apparatus includes a first modulator, a second modulator, and a modulation output device. The first modulator performs a first modulation to produce a first modulated signal. The second modulator performs a second modulation to produce a second modulated signal. In response to a mode selection signal indicating switching the desired modulation output signal from a current one of the first and the second modulated signals to another one thereof, the modulation output device operates in a transition mode for a transition period to generate the desired modulation output signal according to a weighted sum of the first modulated signal and the second modulated signal. After the transition period, the modulation output device outputs the another one as the desired modulation output signal.

  • Publication number: 20090144969
Abstract: A removing apparatus, for removing an electrical connector from a PCB, comprises a base, a pulling member, a pair of opposite clipping members, a lower supporting member and at least one resilient member. The base includes a main body having a top surface. The pulling member connects to the base to be operated to bring the base up and down. The two clipping members pivotally mount to the base, and each of the clipping members has a fixing portion and a latch extending downwardly from the fixing portion for hooking the electrical connector. The lower supporting member mounts below the base and includes a plate substantially paralleling to the main body of the base. The resilient member located between the base and the lower supporting member so as the base can move downwardly relative to the supporting base. When the base moves downwardly, the latch of the clipping member can engage with the electrical connector and pick it up from the PCB when the base moves back.

  • Patent number: 7376105
Abstract: A method of encoding a transmission signal to reduce multiple access interference at a receiver. A data source signal including a plurality of source symbols is received into a transmitter. The source symbols are encoded using low energy encoding forming encoded codewords. An identifying pattern is applied to the encoded codewords forming a transmission signal. In one embodiment, the identifying pattern is a unique pseudo-random pattern identifying the data source. Once the pattern has been added, multiple transmission signals can be summed together and then modulated onto a carrier wave. The transmission signals are then transmitted on the carrier wave which is at a pre-selected frequency. The low energy encoding format is such that a sequence of signals forming codewords is created. Each sequence of signals is characterized by an energy and normally a high bit consumes energy whereas a low bit requires substantially less energy.

  • Patent number: 6871115
Abstract: The integrity of control signals used to control a wafer handling robot is monitored by a monitor connected to various points of the robotic control system. The monitor includes a memory for storing data sets representing correct, reference characteristics of the control signals. The monitor samples control signals at various points in the control system and compares these sampled signals with the stored reference characteristics in order to determine whether a signal disparity exists. If a disparity exists, the monitor generates an error.

  • Patent number: 6758773
Abstract: A flashing dart has a hollow barrel, a point assembly, a transparent shaft, a circuit board, a battery and a resilient element. The barrel has a front end and a rear end and is made of conductive material. The point assembly is attached to the front end of the barrel. The transparent flight shaft is attached to the rear end of the barrel. The circuit board has an integrated circuit controller and is firmly mounted inside the barrel. The battery has two electrodes connected respectively to the barrel and the circuit board. The resilient element abuts the battery and allows the battery to be temporarily disconnected from the circuit board when the flashing dart strikes a dartboard or is thrown thereby activating the integrated circuit controller that causes the lighting element to emit light for a preset period of time.
