  • Patent number: 4181166
Abstract: A wood splitting implement adapted to be manually swung to split tree blocks into firewood including a handle with a gripping section and a head carrying section; and a splitting head with an eye section mounted on the head carrying section of the handle and a parallel edged splitting blade on the eye section. The splitting head may have a cross edged blade on the eye section in opposition to the parallel edged splitting blade and a catch member to prevent the wood from being thrown toward the user when the cross edged splitting blade is being used.

  • Patent number: 4142762
Abstract: A rockable against-the-wall type reclining chair includes a chair frame rockably mounted upon a carriage which is rollably supported on tracks mounted in a forwardly downward incline upon a stationary base. The chair seat, back, and foot rest are in turn supported on the chair frame by a reclining linkage. The carriage is normally retained at a rearward against-the-wall position upon the base by releasable latch means coupled between the base and a linkage supported element of the assembly to be released in response to a slight reclining movement initiated by the occupant of the chair. When the latch is released, the chair carriage rolls gravitationally away from the wall to a position where rocking and reclining can occur. A chair frame return spring system is operable to apply a relatively light biasing action against the advancing movement of the carriage toward the away-from-the-wall position.

  • Patent number: 4140342
Abstract: A rockable against-the-wall type reclining chair which may be gravitationally biased either to a normal upright against-the-wall position or to a forwardly projected away-from-the wall position relative to a base upon which rocking and reclining movement of the chair back can occur with sufficient clearance from the adjacent wall. A chair frame supports the chair seat and back units by means of a conventional reclining mechanism for movement relative to the chair frame between normal upright and reclined positions. The chair frame, in turn, is rockably mounted upon a carriage which is mounted upon a base unit by a roller track arrangement for movement relative to the base between forward and rearward limits of movement. Four embodiments are disclosed. In one embodiment, the base is rockable and the tracks are fixedly mounted on the base. In a second embodiment, the base is fixed and the tracks are supported for pivotal movement on the base.

  • Patent number: 4128273
Abstract: A rockable against-the-wall type reclining chair in which the rocking and reclining elements of the chair are mounted upon a carriage gravitationally maintained at either of a forward or rearward end limit of movement upon a carriage supporting track assembly pivotally mounted upon a stationary base. Rocking or reclining of the chair elements may take place at the option of an occupant of the chair when the carriage is at its forward end limit of movement, at which time rocking or reclining movement of the chair back will clear any wall surface which may be located closely adjacent the rear of the base. The carriage is automatically returned to its rearward limit when the occupant arises from the chair, and upon return of the carriage to its rearward limit, the chair elements are automatically latched against reclining or rearward rocking movement.

  • Patent number: 4112438
Abstract: An apparatus and method for constructing a completed image from an incomplete selected sample and for the projection of the image onto a surface upon which an article has been affixed so as to permit the viewing of the article as if the same were positioned in conjunction with the completed image. More specifically, the completed image may be formed from an incomplete framing sample.

  • Patent number: 4057289
Abstract: A reclining chair capable of rocking movement upon its base which may be arranged in a position closely adjacent the wall of the room. A carriage is mounted upon the stationary base of the chair assembly for forward and rearward sliding movement upon the base. The chair frame is rockably mounted upon the carriage and supports in turn, by conventional reclining linkage, the reclining seat and back portions of the assembly. A translation linkage, actuated by the reclining linkage, is employed to shift the carriage and chair frame forwardly on the base in response to reclining movement of the seat and back so that the back does not strike the wall as it reclines. The translation linkage may be uncoupled from the chair base when it is desired to rock the chair. Upon uncoupling the translation linkage, the carriage and chair frame slide forwardly by gravity upon the base to thereby provide clearance from the wall to accommodate rocking movement.

  • Patent number: 3956740
Abstract: An improved portable data entry machine is disclosed, wherein data may be keyed, viewed for accuracy, recorded on magnetic tape, recalled from magnetic tape, and telephonically transmitted for data processing. Improvements include a search feature to locate previously recorded data, an automatically controlled power switching unit to prolong the times that batteries may be used prior to recharging, microcomputer controlled circuitry to prevent attempted data entry under low-battery conditions, an electronic shutdown to prevent cell reversal, a voltage reference technique to minimize the power drain from the batteries, a unique mechanism and circuitry to preclude the inadvertent destruction of data, a low cost modem for communicating entered data to a remote location, an automatic interlock for the tape compartment, a highly effective display technique, a novel high voltage power supply, and an out-of-sequence detector.
