  • Patent number: 11424561
Abstract: An electrical receptacle includes a printed circuit board (PCB), a power control unit coupled to the PCB, AC electrical conductors, and an electrical receptacle coupled to the PCB. The electrical contacts are in electrical communication with respective ones of the electrical conductors. A first portion of each electrical conductor is coupled to a power source and a second portion of each electrical conductor is coupled to respective ones of the electrical contacts. The power control unit includes a controller and a switch, the switch operable to selectively establish continuity between the first and second portions of at least one of the electrical conductors. The controller is configured to selectively place the switch into either a closed position or an open position in response to a signal received from an environmental or occupancy sensor.

  • Patent number: 11251562
Abstract: An electrical power or electronic data unit includes an outer housing and an inner housing that is insertable into the outer housing. The outer housing has an outer front face panel defining an outer receptacle opening and the inner housing has an inner rear housing portion plus an inner front face portion defining an inner receptacle opening aligned with the outer receptacle opening. A circuit board substrate is positioned inside the inner housing with an electrical contact mounted to the board substrate and aligned with and accessible through the inner and outer receptacle openings. A contact support extends rearwardly from the inner front face portion adjacent the inner receptacle opening, the contact support serving to limit movement of the electrical contact during insertion of a plug or prong into engagement with the electrical contact.

  • Patent number: 10873167
Abstract: A furniture electrical system includes an electrical power unit including a housing that is mountable to a furniture article and that defines an interior cavity, with a low voltage DC electrical outlet positioned in the interior cavity. An electrical power cord is in electrical communication with the electrical outlet and exits the housing, the power cord extending to a higher voltage DC power supply associated with an electric motor for raising and lowering a furniture article. An electrical power converter in the housing reduces the voltage from the higher voltage DC power supply to the low voltage DC electrical outlet. Optionally, an indicia lamp associated with each outlet illuminates at a first luminous intensity when the outlet is energized, and illuminates at a different second luminous intensity when the outlet is energized and supplying power to an electrical power consumer.

  • Patent number: 10581209
Abstract: A portable power or data receptacle includes an electrical cord, a housing body supporting one or more electrical receptacles, and a flexible housing portion that can be used to form a closed loop for retaining portions of the electrical cord. The flexible housing portion has a releasable fastener to selectively hold the flexible housing portion in the closed loop configuration, which allows the flexible housing portion to cooperate with the housing body to secure at least a portion of the cord in an organized manner. The flexible housing portion can also be used to help secure one or more electrical plugs to the electrical receptacle(s), such as to resist inadvertent removal of a plug from a corresponding receptacle.

  • Publication number: 20200028342
Abstract: A low voltage power outlet assembly is adapted for providing access to low voltage power in compact spaces. The low voltage power outlet assembly includes a circuit subassembly that is operable to transform a line voltage input, such as about 110V to 220V AC, to a lower voltage output, such as about 2V to 12V DC. Electrical input conductors receive and convey the line voltage from a power source to the circuit subassembly, while electrical conductors convey the lower voltage output from the circuit subassembly to a low voltage power receptacle that is arranged in a same housing as the circuit subassembly. The low voltage power outlet is mountable in different housings, faceplates, and the like, to accommodate different mounting styles and locations. The low voltage power receptacle includes at least two different receptacles, such as a USB Type-A outlet and a USB Type-C outlet.

  • Patent number: 10381782
Abstract: An electrical connector including first and second connector parts configured for mating together, and with one of the connector parts having a sensory feedback member that moves between an extended position and a retracted position as a result of magnetic interaction with an actuation element in the other connector part during mating of the connector parts. The movement of the sensory feedback member causes a sensory feedback indication, such as an audible sound or a tactile vibration.
