  • Publication number: 20180358749
Abstract: An electrical connector including first and second connector parts configured for mating together, and with one of the connector parts having a sensory feedback member that moves between an extended position and a retracted position as a result of magnetic interaction with an actuation element in the other connector part during mating of the connector parts. The movement of the sensory feedback member causes a sensory feedback indication, such as an audible sound or a tactile vibration.

  • Publication number: 20180358765
Abstract: A furniture electrical system includes an electrical power unit including a housing that is mountable to a furniture article and that defines an interior cavity, with a low voltage DC electrical outlet positioned in the interior cavity. An electrical power cord is in electrical communication with the electrical outlet and exits the housing, the power cord extending to a higher voltage DC power supply associated with an electric motor for raising and lowering a furniture article. An electrical power converter in the housing reduces the voltage from the higher voltage DC power supply to the low voltage DC electrical outlet. Optionally, an indicia lamp associated with each outlet illuminates at a first luminous intensity when the outlet is energized, and illuminates at a different second luminous intensity when the outlet is energized and supplying power to an electrical power consumer.

  • Publication number: 20180358762
Abstract: A portable power or data receptacle includes an electrical cord, a housing body supporting one or more electrical receptacles, and a flexible housing portion that can be used to form a closed loop for retaining portions of the electrical cord. The flexible housing portion has a releasable fastener to selectively hold the flexible housing portion in the closed loop configuration, which allows the flexible housing portion to cooperate with the housing body to secure at least a portion of the cord in an organized manner. The flexible housing portion can also be used to help secure one or more electrical plugs to the electrical receptacle(s), such as to resist inadvertent removal of a plug from a corresponding receptacle.

  • Publication number: 20180191178
Abstract: A wireless electrical power system for a furniture article, includes a wireless electrical power transmitter and an electrical cord. The wireless electrical power transmitter is configured for mounting below a top support surface in an upper region of an upright arm of a furniture article such as a chair or sofa. The electrical cord has a proximal end coupled to the wireless electrical power transmitter and a distal end configured to extend downwardly through the upright arm and exit the furniture article for connection to an outside power source, such as a wall outlet. The wireless power transmitter is energizable by the outside power source to wirelessly convey electrical power to a portable electrical or electronic device having a wireless electrical power receiver and a rechargeable energy storage device, when the portable electrical or electronic device is supported at the top support surface of the upright arm.

  • Patent number: 9893482
Abstract: A branched electrical system is adapted for providing multiple users with access to high and/or low voltage electrical power in work areas or high density seating areas, such as stadium or theater seating, work rooms, lecture halls, and public transportation vehicles. The system includes a main line and a plurality of branch lines, each branch line having at least one high voltage or low voltage electrical receptacle that is accessible to a user located at the seating, such as for powering a portable electronic device. The branch lines may be coupled to the main line via a splice or other electrical-mechanical connection.

  • Patent number: 9312673
Abstract: A low voltage power receptacle assembly is adapted for providing access to low voltage power in compact spaces. The low voltage power receptacle assembly includes a circuit subassembly that is operable to transform a line voltage input, such as about 110V to 220V AC, to a lower voltage output, such as about 2V to 12V DC. Electrical input conductors receive and convey the line voltage from a power source to the circuit subassembly, while electrical output conductors convey the lower voltage output from the circuit subassembly to a low voltage power receptacle that may be spaced some distance from the circuit subassembly. The low voltage power receptacle is mountable in different housings, faceplates, and the like, to accommodate different mounting styles and locations.
