  • Patent number: 7371718
Abstract: A liquid fabric softener composition is provided which includes a texture enhancing component, such as a long chain difatty acid, that is deposited on a fabric during laundering, the deposited enhancing component changing the “feel” of the fabric. Preferably, the deposited enhancing component substantially detaches from the fabric in subsequent laundering cycles to reduce build-up. The enhancing component is preferably water-insoluble in an acidic pH, such as during the rinse cycle occurring after washing fabrics with a detergent, yet water soluble in an alkaline medium enabling the deposited enhancing component to be detached from fabric in subsequent “wash” cycles.

  • Publication number: 20070216710
Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed that improve the automatic generation of near and far clipping planes for a 3D scene. The viewing frustum is intersected with the scene to determine the range of depth that a particular scene occupies in the viewing frustum. The ratio of the near clipping plane to far clipping plane is adjusted as appropriate to ensure a desired minimum level of Z-buffer precision is achieved. The clipping planes are set sufficiently far outside of the object bounds to prevent triangles which are parallel to the clip planes from being accidentally clipped. An API is provided to allow other programs to retrieve the near and far clipping plane values with the desired minimum Z-buffer precision for a particular scene without having to interact with the Z-buffer.

  • Publication number: 20070216711
Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed that improve the process of working with 3D rotations. Rotations are treated as a separate abstract entity from general transforms. By having rotations separate from general transforms, the user can perform the various operations on any “rotation” regardless of its encoding. An abstract 3D transform class is provided that represents a transform that can be applied to 3D a mesh or scene node, and an abstract 3D rotation class is provided which is exposed separately from other general transforms. A concrete implementation of the 3D transform class uses a 3D rotation class to apply a rotation to a 3D mesh or scene node. One or more concrete implementations of the 3D rotation class are provided which represent a separate rotation encoding.

  • Publication number: 20070140117
Abstract: A method and apparatus tracks and blocks content requested by a first remote device for forwarding over a network to a second remote device. For a given content item, one or more usage identities are tracked. Usage identities may include any combination of one or more of a source identity, a content identity, and/or a destination identity. One or more thresholds associated with the tracked usage identities are applied to determine whether a request to forward content should be blocked; a threshold is a limit on the number of times a content item having a particular usage identity may be forwarded within a time period. Misuse of content-forwarding messaging services by spammers and the like may thereby be discouraged. In one embodiment, the invention may be employed as part of a content clipping service for forwarding content to mobile devices by way of SMS or another mobile messaging technology.

  • Publication number: 20070118547
Abstract: A method and system are provided for maintaining a database index version. The database index includes a secondary node affiliated with each leaf node of the index. The secondary node stores version information for each leaf node. A pointer in a header section of the leaf node connects the leaf node to the secondary node. In addition, a status list is maintained to identify each transaction. At such time as a scan of a database index is conducted and an index item is returned, a computation is conducted using the transaction identifiers in the secondary node, the delete flag in the leaf node, and the status list contents for the scanning transaction. The computation and associated logic will determine whether to accept or reject an item. The method results in returning a correct version of the item as existed at the time of start of the scanning transaction.

  • Publication number: 20070003980
Abstract: This invention provides methods and compositions for identifying effectors, binding partners, or other molecules that interact with the proteins involved in the chemosensory pathway; examples of proteins involved in the olfactory pathway include odorant binding proteins (OBPs), sensory appendage proteins (SAPs), orthologs of the Drosophila melanogaster Takeout protein (TOLs), odorant degrading enzymes (ODEs) and odorant receptors (ORs or GPCRs). The invention identifies proteins, molecules, or chemicals that can interact with these olfactory proteins, including but not limited to agonists or antagonists of these proteins. This invention also provides methods and compositions for identifying effectors, binding partners, or other molecules that interact with the proteins involved in the chemosensory pathway; these proteins are generally similar to the olfactory proteins. Generally, the method consists of isolating gene products specifically expressed in the tissue of interest, and assaying function.
