  • Patent number: 10747243
Abstract: An HVAC controller that monitors a current performance level of an HVAC system, and determines if the current performance level falls below a minimum performance threshold level for at least a first predetermined amount of time. The HVAC controller may be configured it display an alert on the display of the HVAC controller if the HVAC controller determines that the current performance level has fallen below the minimum performance threshold level for at least the first period of time. In some cases, the HVAC controller may remove the alert from the display of the HVAC controller if the current performance level subsequently rises and remains above the minimum performance threshold level for at least a second predetermined amount of time. In some cases, the first predetermined amount of time may include a utility shutoff period component and/or a defrost cycle period component.

  • Publication number: 20200195558
Abstract: A method for transparent migration of virtual network functions is provided. The method includes identifying a middlebox receiving network flow and communicating with one or more backend virtual machines. The method also includes receiving flow statistics corresponding to the network flow of the middlebox and determining whether the flow statistics satisfy an offload rule. The offload rule indicates when to migrate the network flow from the middlebox to an end host. When the flow statistics satisfy the offload rule, the method also includes migrating the network flow from the middlebox to the end host.

  • Patent number: 10635119
Abstract: An HVAC controller for controlling an HVAC system may be configured to enroll one or more wireless devices, and once one or more wireless devices are enrolled, to prompt the user to enter an identifier, a location, a device type and/or a function for one or more of the enrolled wireless devices. The HVAC controller may use the identifier, location and/or device type to identify each of the enrolled devices. This may facilitate a user in selecting various sensors to participate in sensor averaging, identifying where certain sensor data is originating, identifying devices having a low battery condition, as well as performing other tasks as desired.

  • Publication number: 20200116378
Abstract: The occupancy status of a building space may be determined by sensing an indication of motion in the building space, in response to sensing the indication of motion in the building space, starting an occupied time period having a length during which the building space is indicated as being occupied, determining a measure related to a number of subsequent sensed indications of motion in the building space during the occupied time period, and selectively adjusting the length of the occupied time period based on the measure related to the number of subsequent sensed indications of motion in the building space during the occupied time period.

  • Publication number: 20200116369
Abstract: An HVAC controller receives signals from a plurality of sensors positioned in different spaces. The HVAC controller includes a housing and a user interface that is accessible from an exterior of the housing. A controller is configured to control the HVAC system using a control temperature that comprises a weighted combination of two or more of the current temperatures reported by the plurality of sensors. The controller tracks which of the different spaces are currently occupied and how long each of the currently occupied spaces have been occupied, and as a currently occupied space remains occupied for a longer period of time, the controller provides increasing weight over time to the current temperature reported by the sensor of the plurality of sensors that is in that currently occupied space, and controls the HVAC system in order to drive the control temperature towards a temperature set point.

  • Publication number: 20190335544
Abstract: A system and method for providing warmth to a person, particularly a skier, in cold or inclement outdoor elements. Skiing is an outdoor winter sport where participants need to have proper clothing and equipment to stay warm in order to participate at optimal strength. Traveling on open-air lifts may cause skiers to become cold. The present disclosure provides a warming wrap that may be placed on a ski pole or other handheld device. A heating device integrated in the warming wrap transmits warmth through an outer layer whereas an insulating layer limits heat from escaping into the pole. The warming wrap contains a heating device that transmits heat from the heating layer to a person who touches the outer layer of the warming wrap. A grip layer alone or together with a fastener arrangement prevents the wrap from sliding down the pole. The preferred placement of the wrap on the pole rather than on a grip or in a glove or mitten provides the skier with better control and balance of the ski pole.

  • Patent number: 10422543
Abstract: An HVAC system includes an HVAC unit having a cooling mode and a heating mode for conditioning the air in an inside space, and a programmable thermostat located remotely from the HVAC unit. The HVAC unit may have an onboard controller configured to control when the HVAC unit is in the cooling mode or heating mode, and whether the HVAC unit is activated or not. In some cases, the onboard controller of the HVAC unit may use a common temperature setpoint when controlling in the cooling mode and the heating mode. The programmable thermostat may have a programmable schedule with a plurality of time periods, where each time period has a heating setpoint and a cooling setpoint separated by a dead band. The onboard controller of the HVAC unit may be configured to accept input signals from the remotely located thermostat.
