  • Patent number: 6155456
Abstract: A card holder and dispensing device includes a housing defining a cavity for receiving a plurality of cards therein. The front wall of the housing has an opening formed therein for loading and removing cards from the cavity of the housing, and the top wall of the housing functions as an exit rail for causing dispensing of the cards from the cavity of the housing one at a time. A roller mechanism is rotatably mounted to the front wall of the housing for dispensing of the cards from the cavity of the housing through the front wall window opening and over the top edge of the exit rail of the housing. A bow spring is positioned within the cavity of the housing for biasing the cards upwardly against the roller mechanism, wherein actuation of the roller mechanism dispenses the business cards one at a time from the cavity of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5317720
Abstract: A pipelined CPU executing instructions of variable length, and referencing memory using various data widths. A writeback cache is used (instead of writethrough) in a hierarchical cache arrangement, and writeback is allowed to proceed even though other accesses are suppressed due to queues being full. Separate queues are provided for the return data from memory and cache invalidates, yet the order or bus transactions is maintained by a pointer arrangement. The bus protocol used by the CPU to communicate with the system bus is of the pended type, with transactions on the bus identified by an ID field specifying the originator, and arbitration for bus grant goes one simultaneously with address/data transactions on the bus.

  • Patent number: 4875228
Abstract: An improved gantry for an examination apparatus, such as an x-ray apparatus comprising a source of x-rays and a detector of fluoresced photons, is disclosed. The apparatus is particularly suitable for use in a vehicle such that the examination can be carried out at locations convenient to the patients. The apparatus comprises a vertical standard and first and second carriages. The first carriage is movable along the vertical standard and carries a horizontal arm. The horizontal arm carries the second carriage, which moves along the horizontal arm in a direction orthogonal to the axis of the standard. A transverse arm carrying the x-ray apparatus is carried by the second carriage and moves with respect thereto in a third direction orthogonal to the first and second directions, so that three directions of motion along orthogonal axes are thus provided. Additionally, the second carriage is rotatable about the horizontal arm providing a first direction of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4570809
Abstract: A closure cap for a container comprises an inner cap which can be screwed onto the neck of a bottle, and an outer cap which covers and surrounds the inner cap. The outer cap has a tamper evident rim part of which extends into an annular groove in the inner cap. Portions on the top of the inner cap can be brought into engagement with portions provided under the top of the outer cap following downward movement of the outer cap. This downward movement of the outer cap enables rotation of the outer cap to effect removal of the cap, but such downward movement is only possible after the tamper evident rim has been removed.

  • Patent number: 4090778
Abstract: An optical fiber connector assembly employs a tubular alignment portion in which two watch jewels, one fitted to each fiber end, are aligned. The jewels are mounted on the ends of ferrules and have diameters greater than that of the ferrules so that alignment of the fibers is made off the jewels rather than the ferrules.

  • Patent number: 4015235
Abstract: An optical system for guiding the pilot of a ground-maneuvering aircraft towards a parking bay has, an illuminated target positioned behind a fixed stop aperture along a line of sight of the pilot which is inclined to the direction of approach of the aircraft to the bay. As the aircraft advances different areas of the target come successively into sight by parallax, and these may be differently colored to indicate the correct stopping position and also whether the aircraft is to the left or right of the correct approach line.
