  • Publication number: 20120276917
Abstract: A method used in a receiver includes measuring first Received Signal Strength Indications (RSSIs) in respective first communication channels, which are located in a given frequency band and which each have a first channel bandwidth. Based on the first RSSIs, second RSSIs are computed for respective second communication channels, which are located in the given frequency band and which each have a second channel bandwidth that is larger than the first channel bandwidth. At least one of the first and second communication channels over which to receive signals at the receiver are selected using the first and second RSSIs.

  • Patent number: 8290077
Abstract: A method for communication includes defining a signal constellation including multiple constellation points in a signal space, such that each constellation point corresponds to a signal representing a respective combination of values of at least three bits, wherein three or more subsets of the bits in each of the constellation points are respectively allocated to three or more data streams. A sequence of signals is received, each signal selected from the signal constellation. The received sequence of the signals is demodulated, and one of the three or more data streams is reconstructed based on the demodulated signals.

Abstract: A method includes holding in a memory of a receiver, for each temperature in a range of temperatures, a respective first parameter indicative of a frequency error of a crystal oscillator in the receiver at the temperature, and a respective second parameter indicative of an uncertainty of the first parameter. An operating temperature of the crystal oscillator is measured. One or more frequencies, for initial acquisition of signals from a transmitter, are selected based on the first and second parameters corresponding to the measured operating temperature. • Publication number: 20110044299
Abstract: A method includes assigning a communication channel for simultaneous transmission to at least first and second mobile communication terminals using a Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) communication protocol. Upon determining that data is to be transmitted over the communication channel to both the first and the second mobile communication terminals, the data is transmitted at a first power level that is defined for transmission to the first mobile communication terminal as part of the simultaneous transmission. Upon determining that the data is to be transmitted over the communication channel only to the first mobile communication terminal, the data is transmitted at a second power level that is defined for transmission only to the first mobile communication terminal and is lower than the first power level.

  • Patent number: 7447512
Abstract: Method and system are described to determine a signal quality for nodes of a network. In one embodiment, a signal quality for nodes of a network is determined. The nodes are ranked based on the signal quality. Information from a node at a device is received; the information indicates whether the node is satisfied. In the event the node is satisfied, whether a next ranked node is satisfied is determined. In the event the node is not satisfied, network resources are allocated to the node until the node is satisfied.
