The switching power converter adjusts the cycling of a power switch until a constant current mode of operation is entered with a known output current driving the mobile device.     Abstract: A bipolar electrosurgical device including an outer shaft, an inner shaft, first and second electrode surfaces, and an irrigation channel. The outer shaft defines a lumen, a proximal end and a distal end forming a cutting window. The inner shaft is rotatably disposed within the outer shaft, and defines a distal portion forming a cutting tip. The cutting tip and the cutting window combine to define a cutting implement. The first and second electrode surfaces are electrically isolated, and are formed at the cutting implement. The irrigation channel extends parallel to the outer shaft, and terminates in at least one outlet port. The outlet port is proximally spaced from the cutting window and is located radially outside of the outer shaft. Fluid (e.g., saline) is emitted at the exterior surface of the device near the cutting window and is readily present for interacting with the electrode surfaces.

    Abstract: Techniques for a user interface for pathogen analysis are provided. The user interface may include an interactive dendrogram that identifies a plurality of biological samples and their corresponding sequences. The biological samples of the interactive dendrogram may be arranged based on a degree of similarity between nucleotide sequences of the biological samples. In response to a selection of biological sample, the interactive dendrogram may identify a cluster of biological samples. Each biological sample of the cluster can be identified based on a determination that a number of variations between the sequences of the biological sample and the selected biological samples are under a predefined threshold. The user interface may also include a similarity matrix that identifies a number of variations between sequences of two biological samples selected from the interactive dendrogram.

    Abstract: A thermally sensitive ionic redox transistor comprises a channel, a reservoir layer, and an electrolyte layer disposed between the channel and the reservoir layer. A conductance of the channel is varied by changing concentration of ions in the channel layer. The electrolyte layer is configured to undergo a state change at a state transition temperature. Below the state transition temperature, ions in the electrolyte layer are substantially immobile. Above the state transition temperature, ions can move freely between the reservoir layer and the channel across the electrolyte layer in response to a voltage being applied between the channel and the reservoir layer. When the device is cooled below the state transition temperature or temperature range, the ions are trapped in one or more of the layers because the electrolyte layer loses its ionic conductivity. A state of the redox transistor can be read by measuring the conductance of the channel.

    Abstract: An alkaline electrolyte membrane (AEM) electrolytic device is designed, assembled and evaluated for water electrolysis, composed of an anode for oxygen generation, a cathode for hydrogen generation, an AEM for anion conductive, and two internal water gas separators (IWGSs) for water supplying to the anode and the cathode, respectively, as well as for automatically separation of water and gas produced from the anode or from the cathode. There is no need of pumps for water and gas circulations and no external water gas separators (EWGSs) that are used by conventional water electrolyzers. The corrosive electrolyte is confined in the water containers and will not damage other parts in the electrolytic device. Furthermore, novel multi gas diffusion layers are used to replace the conventional single gas diffusion layer. The pore size is configurable to improve the mass transfer of electrochemical reactions and promote electrochemical reactions.
