  • Patent number: 7510601
Abstract: Portable medical oxygen concentrator comprising an air separation system adapted to recover oxygen from air; a bottom platform and a shell having an outer wall, wherein the shell is detachably connected to the bottom platform, wherein the shell and bottom platform define an enclosed volume when the shell is connected to the bottom platform, and wherein the air separation system is disposed in the enclosed volume; and one or more rechargeable batteries detachably connected to the outer wall of the shell and adapted to provide power to drive the air separation system. The air separation system may comprises a pressure swing adsorption system having two or more adsorbent columns and a rotary valve for directing gas flow sequentially to, from, and among the columns. A base assembly attached to the bottom platform may be adapted to support the two or more adsorbent columns and the rotary valve.

  • Publication number: 20040162524
Abstract: A hand-held device (10) useful for dispensing a liquid material includes a housing (11) containing the material to be dispensed and having a dispensing nozzle (12) and a resettable ratchet (13, 50) operatively connected to a biased piston (30). The ratchet mechanism (13, 50) including a release lever (13) normally preventing movement of the piston (30) until released. When the lever (13) is released the piston (30) is biased toward the dispensing nozzle (12), such that an amount of the material is urged to flow toward the nozzle (12). The housing (11) is configured to be pen-like.

  • Patent number: 5756044
Abstract: An article treatment system which provides improved solution mixing and concentration uniformity. The treatment system includes a container, a closure and a channel for guiding fluid flow. The treatment system is especially advantageous for use with effervescent tablets and for use in treating contact lenses. Cleaning and disinfecting of articles is improved by use of a tubular channel which guides upwardly gas and other components released from an effervescent tablet which is located at the bottom of the treatment container. The upward central flow through the channel induces a downward flow between the container walls, the exterior walls of the channel, and the article-retaining means and towards the bottom of the container.

  • Patent number: 5590696
Abstract: The present invention is an inflation system utilizing an inflation device and an adaptor therefor. The inflation device includes a cylindrical housing which receives a pressurized cartridge of gas, a head unit, and a nozzle. The head unit of the device includes structure for creating and delivering a metered bolus of gas per each actuation of the device. The device audibly indicates to the user when a single bolus of gas has been successfully delivered to an inflatable bladder. In another aspect of the invention, an elastomeric inflation port which serves as an adaptor for connecting the inflation device of the invention to an inflatable bladder is provided. The inflation port of the invention may also function as a fluid release mechanism to vent fluid from the bladder.

  • Patent number: 4981453
Abstract: An emergency position indicating radio beacon is controlled by an annular switch ring which rotates to ON, OFF, SET, and TEST positions. In the SET position, the buoy transmitter automatically turns on in response to removal of the buoy from a mounting bracket. A light and an audible alarm on the buoy are activated during buoy transmission to alert an operator to the transmission in order to avoid false alarms. The mounting bracket automatically releases and ejects the buoy in an emergency situation in response to ambient water pressure, or the buoy may be manually removed from the bracket for deployment.
