  • Patent number: 8727361
Abstract: A dolly for supporting a spool carrying a windable material, such as rope, utilizes a wheeled frame including an elongated section having two opposite ends, a pair of wheels, and at least one floor-engaging for supporting, in conjunction with the wheels, the dolly upon a floor. A U-shaped bracket assembly having two legs and a base which extends between the two legs is secured to the elongated section of the frame, and a first tipped member is journaled to one leg of the U-shaped bracket for acceptance by a centrally-disposed hole provided in one end of the spool. A second tipped member is journaled to a threaded rod mounted in the other leg of the bracket for acceptance by a centrally-disposed hole provided in the other end of the spool.

  • Publication number: 20140131645
Abstract: A puller device for pulling a wire or rope through a conduit includes first and second motor-driven capstans about which a wire or rope can be wound for wire or rope-pulling purposes and an elongated arm arrangement having an end which is positionable adjacent the conduit through which the wire or rope is to be pulled. The first elongated arm member is connected to the second arm member for movement about a pivot axis, and there are provided a plurality of rollers adjacent the pivot axis having surfaces along which the wire or rope bears against so that forces which are exerted adjacent the pivot axis by the wire or rope are distributed between the rollers. In addition, a conduit-engaging assembly mounted upon the elongated arm arrangement holds the conduit in a fixed positional relationship with respect to the elongated arm arrangement during a wire or rope-pulling operation.

  • Publication number: 20140117143
Abstract: A device for handling a spool having a barrel about which a wire or cable is wound and two flanges at each end of the barrel includes a pair of wheeled carriers wherein each carrier includes an elongated frame having two opposite end portions and wherein the opposite end portions of the frame are adapted to be moved toward and away from one another. A roller is rotatably supported at each end portion of each frame and is arranged so that the rotational axis of the two rollers of each frame are substantially parallel to one another, and a screw jack is incorporated within each frame for moving the rollers of each frame toward one another so that by positioning each carrier of the device adjacent a corresponding flange of the spool and then moving the end portions of the carrier toward one another, the flange of spool is raised to an elevated condition above the floor.

  • Publication number: 20120187357
Abstract: A toilet dolly for lifting a toilet from a floor includes a frame having a pair of spaced-apart members which are positionable on opposite sides of the toilet desired to be lifted from a floor, and a plurality of wheels enable the frame to be rolled into operative positional relationship with a toilet for purposes of lifting the toilet from the floor. A pair of spaced-apart linkage members are connected to the spaced-apart members for pivotal movement relative thereto, and the linkage members include bowl-lifting portions which are moved between lowered and raised conditions as the linkage members are pivotally moved relative to the frame structure. The lever assembly further includes a foot-engagable portion which enables a user to pivotally move the linkage members relative to the frame structure with his foot to thereby lift the toilet to an elevated condition above the floor.

  • Patent number: 6286542
Abstract: An improved method and article of manufacture for introducing a locator wire into an interior portion of a pressurized, or non-pressurized, subterranean or otherwise concealed plastic pipeline. The present invention introduces a locator wire into a plastic pipeline while simultaneously minimizing the escape potential of a transported volume, such as, but not limited to, gas, water, sewerage or oil. A locator wire feeding unit initially feeds the locator wire through a locator wire alignment coupling and proceeds thereafter to project the locator wire through a valve assembly, a locator saddle, and ultimately into a plastic pipe.

  • Patent number: 4313035
Abstract: A method is disclosed of using the public switched telephone network, including the CCIS (Common Channel Interoffice Signaling) system, to provide nationwide personal locator telephone service for called subscribers. In accordance with the service, a calling party may reach a called subscriber wherever the subscriber may be located by merely keying from a standard push-button telephone set a personal number unique to the subscriber. A telephone office having access to CCIS sends the number to a centralized data base. A telephone number at which the subscriber is located is returned to the access office, and the call is automatically completed to the telephone number. Other information may be returned to the access office to provide enhanced features. Such features include called subscriber unavailability announcements to the calling party, storage of a caller's telephone number, automatic call-back by the subscriber, and paging of the subscriber.
