  • Publication number: 20150220319
Abstract: A method for updating a firmware of a security module in equipment comprises a device and the security module arranged such that data can be exchanged between the security module and the device. A first message is received by the security module and indicates the availability of a firmware update provided by a provider and wherein the first message contains a transaction number individual for the security module. A second message is transferred from the equipment to the provider and the firmware update is requested from the provider. The second message contains the individual transaction number to enable the provider to conduct an identification of the security module. The firmware update is transferred from the provider to the equipment based on the individual transaction number, and is stored in a memory of the device. The firmware is unpacked by a boot loader of the equipment or the security module.

  • Publication number: 20080283622
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the transport of heat energy from at least one heat source to at least one heat sink, in particular for a district heating network, by means of a working fluid which includes a mixture of at least one first component having a first boiling point and of a second component having a second boiling point, with the first boiling point being lower than the second boiling point. The method includes the step of an at least partial vaporization of the first component of the working fluid by the supply of heat from the heat source. The vaporized portion of the first component is transported separately from the working fluid depleted by the vaporization with respect to the first component from the heat source to the heat sink by means of a transport means. Subsequently, the vaporized first component is absorbed by the depleted working fluid while emitting the heat absorbed on the vaporization to the heat sink.

  • Patent number: 7441111
Abstract: In a method for controlled program execution by a portable data carrier, the value of a status counter (ZZ) is altered during execution of each controlled section (36.x) of an executed program (30) in order to reflect the processing of the respective controlled section (36.x); when executing a jump instruction (42.x), which causes one or more controlled sections (36.x) to be skipped, the value of the status counter (ZZ) is altered as if the skipped controlled sections (36.x) had been executed and the value of the status counter (ZZ) is compared at at least one test point (38) with at least one admissible value. A portable data carrier has corresponding features. The invention provides reliable protection against manipulations of the portable data carrier and is also suitable for application in executing complex programs.

  • Publication number: 20070185811
Abstract: In a method for authorizing a transaction by a user with the aid of a terminal which can communicate with a background system, a secret, which is known to the user and to the background system but not to an unauthorized attacker, is used. The background system transmits secret data, which indicate the secret, only to the terminal if the terminal has successfully authenticated itself at the background system. Because, as a rule, secret data of several users are stored in the background system, the terminal detects in advance identification information which identifies the user, and transmits corresponding user identification data to the background system. When the terminal displays the secret to the user, the user can be certain that the terminal is trustworthy. A device and a computer program product comprise corresponding features. The invention provides a technique for authorizing a transaction by a user with the aid of a terminal which enables the user to recognize a falsified terminal.

  • Patent number: 7117012
Abstract: A method is proposed for operating a portable data carrier designed for executing reloadable function programs. According to the method the data carrier initially has installed thereon a loader interface which allows the reloading of load applications which in turn permit the loading of function programs. Each load application has allotted thereto an invariable assigned address space. To support the management of an assigned address space, badges are produced for application programs to be reloaded, said badges containing information about the size of the memory space required for the application program. Address space in the memory device is allotted to application programs to be reloaded in accordance with the size information provided on the badges. A data carrier suitable for carrying out said method is further disclosed.
