  • Publication number: 20090115192
Abstract: The water wave-based energy generator is a system for extracting usable mechanical energy from a body of water, such as an ocean. A support frame is provided having a central portion, which is suspended over the body of water, and a plurality of legs, extending downwardly therefrom. A pivotal frame is pivotally joined to the central portion of the support frame and has a planar sheet mounted on a lower end thereof. The planar sheet is at least partially suspended in the body of water so that waves in the body of water cause rotation of the planar sheet and the pivotal frame with respect to the support frame. An elongated rod is pivotally joined at a proximal end thereof to the pivotal frame so that rotation of the pivotal frame generates lateral movement in the elongated rod. The lateral movement of the distal end of the elongated rod may be used to drive an external mechanically driven system.

  • Patent number: 4869618
Abstract: A distributor frontally mountable on a screed to minimize or eliminate the manual distribution and leveling of freshly poured concrete which is otherwise required prior to screeding. The distributor comprises a rotatable body bearing an array of circumferentially and axially staggered plate elements. The plate elements may be swept back and are staggered so that only selected ones of the plate elements in the array are in contact with the wet concrete at any point in time of operation, with the direction of travel of the plate elements being toward the screed in the upper quadrants of rotation of the rotatable body, and away from the screed in the lower quadrants of rotation.

A pair of retaining tabs are secured to the upper surface of the blade adjacent trailing corners. The four retaining tabs cooperate to removably secure the blade to a trowel finishing blade without the use of mechanical fasteners. Spring-type retaining clips can be utilized with the tabs to further secure the blade to a trowel finishing blade.

  • Patent number: 4832525
Abstract: A portable vibrating screed includes a driven, vibratory rotatable shaft assembly mounted on an elongated frame equipped with means for screeding concrete. The shaft assembly includes a plurality of bearing assemblies spaced along the length of the shaft. Each bearing assembly includes a pair of separate bearing elements mounted on the shaft and supported in bearing supports secured to the frame. Failure of any single bearing element allows a companion bearing element in the same assembly to absorb all of the load imposed on such assembly to prevent shutdown and without impairing the needed vibration.

  • Patent number: 4806047
Abstract: The present invention includes a concrete screed frame having a first screed blade, a second screed blade and a camber top member arranged in a triangular cross section. A plurality of frame supports are transversely mounted between the first and second screed blades. A plurality of braces are mounted between the top camber member and the first and second screed blades. A telescoping tube assembly having a first tube and a second tube is mounted transversely between the first and second screed blades at the approximate midpoint of the length of the frame. A pin selectively fixes the relative position of the first and second tubes. Elongated structural means illustrated as a chain assembly is mounted to a screed blade and a tube to stiffen the screed frame and provides a chain-formed truss with the screed frame.

  • Patent number: 4722638
Abstract: A concrete screed comprising an elongate frame with a first longitudinally extending screed plate connected to a leading portion of the frame, and a second longitudinally extending screed plate connected to the frame rearwardly of the first screed plate. A plow body is mounted on the frame in close proximity to the first screed plate and presents discrete surface portions, comprising: (i) a first generally horizontal surface portion, extending forwardly from the vicinity of the first screed plate to a front leading edge and generally horizontally aligned with the first screed plate, and (ii) a second surface portion integrally joined to the front leading edge of the first surface portion and extending upwardly therefrom to an upper edge. Means are coupled to the frame for translating it along concrete to be screeded, whereby the first and second screed plates and plow body are brought into operative screeding engagement with the concrete.

  • Patent number: 4701071
Abstract: A concrete screed comprising an elongated beam with top and bottom flat surfaces joined to an intermediate hollow, tubular cylindrical section, formed of a plurality of interconnected separable beam units. Each adjacent pair of beam units is interconnected by a tongue body of a size and shape adapting it to closely fit within passages at end portions of the adjacent beam units, such passages being formed corporately by the bottom flat plate, the tubular section, and generally vertical ribs joining the bottom plate portion to the tubular section. The tongue body is secured to each of the adjacent beam units, with its respective ends disposed within the respective passages of the adjacent beam unit.
