Abstract: Described for the use in foodstuff, chewing gum, toothpaste and medicinal product flavor and aroma, tobacco flavor and aroma and perfume aroma augmenting, modifying, enhancing and imparting compositions and as foodstuff, chewing gum, toothpaste, medicinal product, tobacco, perfume and perfumed article aroma imparting materials are one or more alkenyl or alkylidene norbornyl ketone derivatives having the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein R is C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkenyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkylidene and the dashed lie is a carbon-carbon single bond or a carbon-carbon double bond, specifically the compounds having the structures: ##STR2## and products produced according to the process of reacting 2-acetyl-3,3-dimethyl-5-norbornene with a complex of N-methylaniline and an alkyl magnesium halide to form a grinard salt of 2-acetyl-3,3-dimethyl-5-norbornene having the structure: ##STR3## said reacting being carried out from -5.degree. C. up to about 40.degree. C.

Abstract: Processes and compositions are described for the use in tobacco, perfume and perfumed article aroma augmenting, enhancing and imparting compositions and as tobacco, perfume and perfumed article aroma augmenting, enhancing or imparting materials of 2-butyl-3,5,5-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1,4-dione having the formula: ##STR1## produced by reacting a ketal of 3,5,5-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1,4-dione such as 2,7,9,9-tetramethyl-1,4-dioxaspiro[4,5]dec-6-en-8-one with n-butyltriphenylphosphorane and then deketalizing the resulting product to form the 2-butyl-3,5,5-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1,4-dione. Addition of 2-butyl-3,5,5-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1,4-dione to consumable materials is indicated to produce:(A) In perfumes, colognes and perfumed articles, deep, slightly woody, herbaceous aromas; and(B) In tobaccos and tobacco flavors, pungent, sweet, hay-, tea-, tobacco-like, floral and fruity notes, both prior to and on smoking in both the main stream and the side stream.

Addition of one or more hydroxy cyclohexenone derivatives having the formula: ##STR4## to consumable materials is indicated to produce: In perfumes, colognes and perfumed articles, green, minty, herbaceous, strong fruity aromas with earthy, mossy notes.

Abstract: Described are hexahydrotetramethyl acetonaphthones and mixtures of such substituted acetonaphthones having the generic formula: ##STR1## wherein one of the dashed lines is a carbon-carbon double bond and each of the other of the dashed lines is a carbon-carbon single bond, and, specifically, the novel isomer having the structure: ##STR2## and processes for the preparation of such mixtures and said novel isomer, as well as a known single component of said mixtures and compounds.The products produced are useful as vetiver ingredients in perfumes and perfumed articles.
