Abstract: A method of providing a web-based sports or academic social network web page includes providing a digital athlete or academic profile portion configured to provide various athlete or academic information and providing a gallery portion having at least one of photographs or videos uploadable by a user. The athlete or academic information includes one or more of statistics, school information, contact information, athletic bio, academic information, news and events, athletic awards, and recommendations.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing autonomic e-mails, which each have at least one unique identifying number attached to them, are disclosed. Internally within an organization, e-mails are often sent to multiple recipients, such as to all members of a particular distribution list, to request information or ask that a task be performed by one or more, but less than all, of those recipients. The disclosed systems and methods help minimize the overall time burden to those recipients in responding to or trying to track such e-mails, and help the sender and recipients alike more easily view, manage and control such e-mails and their ultimate disposition, including the sender's e-mail and the plurality of responses sent by recipients. Separate viewable areas for each string or chain of related autonomic e-mails within each user's e-mail in-box and other e-mail storage areas are provided.

Abstract: While documents which may be subject to existing copyrights are scanned to form electronically transmissible files, information is extracted from the copyright notice, supplemented by manual or automated research and processed by performing calculations of critical dates for geographical areas of interest preferably provided from memory as a table of algorithms to determine if the document is in the public domain or if a license for electronic distribution can be obtained. Automated generation and/or transmission of license requests is also provided. Deletion of electronic files from local storage for particular areas and identifiers thereof form indices for particular areas are also provided if a license for electronic distribution of particular documents is not obtained.

The process further includes generating web pages for at least one of schools, teams, players, and students allowing users to view academic, extracurricular activity, high school, youth level, club level, or adult league sports based content of the at least one schools, teams, players, and students and directing advertising to the users through interaction with the web pages based on at least one the schools, teams, players, and students.

Abstract: A computer random access memory is divided into first and second partitions. Each partition has its own operating system (OS). The first partition has a conventional OS and is designated for non-Internet use. The second partition is designated for secure Internet access, and has an OS specific for Internet usage. Software in the second partition cannot write or copy files in the second partition. The size of the second partition is fixed and unchangeable while said second partition is open. Each software application in the second partition is allocated a memory region that cannot be changed, thereby preventing memory overflow attacks. A secure memory is designated for temporary storage of software used in the second partition. Cyclic redundancy check (CRC) values are calculated for all files in the secure memory. To detect unauthorized file changes, CRC values are calculated for all files used in the second partition, and checked against values stored in the secure memory.

Abstract: Methods, systems and program storage devices for generating search engine search results. Online files relevant to a requested search query are located by a search engine, while simultaneously previously accessed offline files residing on a client computer are located using the same search query. The search engine retrieves the offline files from the client computer and combines such offline files with the locate online files in a single search result overview. The listing of files within the combined search results are ranked according to relevancy to the search query using a search engine scoring algorithm, whereby the offline files within the combined search results are preferably brought to a user's attention to indicate that such files reside on the client computer.

Abstract: Blends of syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene and rubbery elastomers are prepared by a process that comprises polymerizing 1,3-butadiene monomer into syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene within a rubber cement of an elastomeric terpolymer by using a chromium-based, molybdenum-based, or iron-based catalyst composition. Polymer composition comprising the blend with improved properties is also provided.

Automatic selection between available communication links for communicating the “go to [page number]” command is also provided.

Abstract: Multiple computer devices are networked, and one device is designated as a bookmark server. The bookmark server stores and maintains a master bookmark database that is available to all the networked devices. Each bookmark in the bookmark database includes a bookmark time stamp. If a bookmark is added, deleted or changed at any device, then a transaction request is sent to the bookmark server. The transaction request includes a transaction time stamp indicating the time that the transaction request was created. The bookmark server analyzes the transaction requests according to the time stamps. If multiple transaction requests are received for a single bookmark, then only the most recent transaction request is honored and other transaction requests related to the bookmark are ignored. Also, a transaction request is ignored if the transaction time stamp is older than the corresponding bookmark time stamp.

Abstract: Multiple computer devices are networked, and each computer device stores a bookmark database. A user can add delete or change bookmarks on any of the computer devices. Alterations made to a bookmark database are stored locally. Every alteration is time stamped. If a bookmark is deleted, it is marked as deleted, but not erased from the local bookmark database. Bookmark databases stored on other computer devices are unaffected by changes made to the bookmark database stored on the local device. In order to update and synchronize all the bookmark databases, the local device receives the data from all the other bookmark databases. Then, the time stamps for each bookmark are compared, and the bookmarks with the most recent time stamps are assembled in a new master bookmark database. The new master bookmark database is then sent to all participating devices in the network.

Abstract: A system and method for utilizing RFID tags to manage automotive parts. A system is provided that includes a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader configured to read data from RFID tags affixed to parts located throughout a vehicle, wherein each RFID tag uniquely identifies a part; a data processing system configured to process the data obtained by the RFID reader; and a service application that provides service related information to an end user based on an installation or removal of a part from the vehicle.

Abstract: Domain name system (DNS) servers provide Internet protocol (IP) addresses that computers must have for finding websites on the Internet. A recent problem with navigating the Internet is that hackers have discovered ways to change the IP addresses stored on the DNS servers. An altered IP address will cause an Internet user to be directed to an incorrect or fraudulent website. In the present invention, an Internet user's computer stores domain names and corresponding IP addresses of all websites visited with the computer. Each time a website is accessed, the IP address received from the DNS server is compared to the IP address stored in the database. If the IP addresses are identical, then the newly received IP address is likely legitimate. If the IP addresses are different, then the newly received IP address is likely fraudulent, and the user can be warned before loading the website.

Abstract: A method of modifying text or images on a display having defective pixels, in order to make the text or images more legible. The image or text is shifted away from nonfunctioning pixels, moving the picture to a suite of pixels that are functioning. Second, the image or text is resized to prevent the nonfunctioning pixels from interfering with the readability of the displayed picture. Resizing the image or text effectively enlarges or miniaturizes the display on an array of functioning pixels. Third, the system is programmed to select different wording or a different picture having the same meaning or effect as the original display. The selected replacement picture display is formatted and shifted to accommodate an array of functioning pixels, or at least more functioning pixels than the original display.

Abstract: Copy protected materials are backed up or restored and made available for play on electronic media players through an online retrievable system. Corrupted segments of electronic media storage files are identified and located prior to being read, executed, or played. An uncorrupted copy from the network is then located, and software instructions provide for the storage of the uncorrupted segment of the file on electronic media player, merging the uncorrupted segment into the reading, executing, or playing of the electronic storage media file to seamlessly produce an output in real-time that is indistinguishable from the uncorrupted file.

Abstract: Methods, systems and program products for securely voting by providing a secure voting module in communication with a voting device. A voter signs onto the voting device using a unique voter identification, and the voter's voting selections are written to the voting device. A scrambled voter identification is generated using the unique voter identification and a unique encryption value of the secure voting module, whereby the voting selections and the scrambled voter identification are stored in the secure voting module. Once voting has ended, first and second fuses are blown within the secure voting module for destroying the unique encryption value and for permanently storing the voting selections and scrambled voter identification in a read only secure voting module that maintains voter anonymity while preventing any further physically writing thereto. The voting results may then be counted, re-counted or validated.

Abstract: A near field communication device included in a secure transaction card provides an addition and/or transitional communication link for communicating secure transaction information. The near field communication device may be selectively engaged or disengaged and, when engaged, either active or passive modes of operation of the near field communication device can be selected. in the active mode, secure transaction information is transmitted upon establishment of a communication link with a complementary near field communication device. In the passive mode, secure transaction information is transmitted upon interrogation from a complementary near field communication device. Secure transaction information is generated and stored for transmission in a memory and at least a portion of the memory is erased or nulled upon transmission or upon expiration of a selected period of time.

Abstract: A user designated as a group leader of a group of users manages location information for the group of users using a base device. In particular, a client device is identified for each user in the group of users and an area within which each user in the group of users is to remain is defined. Subsequently, the base device can obtain location information for the client device(s) and process the location information for use by the group leader. For example, the base device can display the current location of one or more users, display the relative location of one or more users with respect to the group leader, and/or determine if one or more users are outside of the area. The group leader can then coordinate the group by communicating with one or more users in the group. In this manner, the group leader can make more informed decisions about the status of each group member and more efficiently coordinate the re-grouping and/or movement of the group of users.
