  • Patent number: 10051156
Abstract: A method and system create an image-based pattern color space for use in conjunction with rendering a print job. The pattern color space is defined, in a page description language, by a variable portion, a fixed portion, and a bounding shape. A procedure is defined for painting the variable and fixed portions within the bounding shape. The variable portion is based upon variable data associated with the print job and the fixed portion is an image associated with the print job such that a gloss mark is created in rendering the print job by painting a gloss mark font text symbol with the image of the print job, and a correlation mark is created in rendering the print job by painting a correlation mark font text symbol with the image of the print job.

  • Publication number: 20180213112
Abstract: A system prints a document using a device-independent pattern ink cell that is appropriate for the print device. The system does this by identifying an object in a print job corresponding to a security element that identifies a pattern ink cell for a color parameter. The system then defines a device-independent pattern ink cell for rendering the identified object. The definition of the device-independent pattern ink cell includes at least one scaling routine for adjusting a parameter of the device-independent pattern ink cell based on a resolution of a print device that will be used for printing the document. The system then queries and receives from a print system a device resolution of the print device, executes the at least one scaling routine to transform the device-independent pattern ink cell to yield a device-dependent pattern ink cell, and generates a print using the device-dependent pattern ink cell.

  • Patent number: 10007653
Abstract: A method of creating a confidence map for an electronic fillable form may include identifying, by an electronic device, one or more fillable fields of an electronic fillable form. The method may include, for one or more of the identified fillable fields, assigning one or more first coordinates of the electronic fillable form to define a graphical zone associated with the fillable field, assigning one or more second coordinates of the electronic fillable form to define a fill zone, assigning one or more third coordinates of the electronic fillable form to define a click zone, and assigning, by the electronic device, one or more fourth coordinates of the electronic fillable form to define a start zone representing a most likely selection area for the fillable field. The method may include creating, a confidence map associated with the electronic fillable form.

  • Patent number: 10009503
Abstract: First shapes are removed from a first area of intersecting line patterns, and a first security pattern is added to only the first shapes. Second shapes are removed from the first area and the first security pattern, and a second security pattern is added to only the second shapes. The first and second security patterns include the intersecting line patterns phase shifted along first and second vectors. Overlap areas where the first shapes and the second shapes overlap are removed, and a third security pattern is added to only the overlap areas. The third security pattern includes altered first parallel lines and altered second parallel lines of the intersecting line patterns. A screen in a first orientation reveals a distinction between the first area and the first shapes, and the screen rotated reveals a distinction between the first area and the second shapes.

  • Patent number: 9961230
Abstract: A document generation system creates a secure document by: receiving document content to be printed onto a substrate; creating a stencil mask comprising an image of at least a portion of the document content; receiving an image of a watermark to be printed on the substrate; modifying the watermark to remove portions of the watermark that will correspond to locations of the stencil mask; causing a print device to print the document content on the substrate; and causing the print device to print the modified watermark through the stencil mask on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9940557
Abstract: A system prints a document by generating a device-dependent font that is appropriate for the document and the print device. The system does this by identifying a font for the document, identifying an affine transformation matrix for the font, using the device resolution and current page location of the print device to modify the affine transformation matrix to yield a current transformation matrix, adding a reverse of the current transformation matrix to the affine transformation matrix to yield a modified font matrix, and generate a print file using the modified font matrix. The print device then uses the print file print the document with a font corresponding to the modified font matrix.

  • Publication number: 20180063347
Abstract: A user interface of a printer displays instructions to use the printer's document scanner for scanning a sheet of print media (of a stack of print media being added to the paper drawer) in response to a drawer sensor detecting the opening of the paper drawer. The document scanner generates an electronic image of the sheet of print media from the scanning of the sheet of print media. The processor evaluates the electronic image of the sheet of print media to identify the media type and color of the stack of print media being added to the paper drawer. For example, this is done by evaluating the size, color characteristic, transparency, and reflection characteristic of the electronic image of the sheet of print media. Then, the electronic memory records that the paper drawer contains the stack of print media having a specific media type and color.

  • Patent number: 9883073
Abstract: A system and method render see-saw scalable gloss effect image patterns on a recording medium by using to two colors to provide one region with a relatively smooth surface, while a second region has a relatively rougher surface. A third region is added composed of a color different than the first two, wherein the third region has a relatively smooth surface where it intersects with the first region and a relatively rougher surface where it intersects with the second region. As the rendered recording medium is tilted at different angles, the image patterns thereon toggle to create a see-saw effect.

  • Patent number: 9864906
Abstract: A document validation system receives a scan image of a document to be certified, analyzes the scan image to identify one or more characteristics of the scan image, and uses the identified characteristics to identify a security template. In response to a validation request, the system uses the identified security template to create a validation document that includes descriptive material comprising the location of one or more security elements on the document to be certified.

  • Patent number: 9864920
Abstract: A document validation system receives a scan of a certified document. The system identifies a security template for the document, prompts a user to enter a validation document into the scanning device, receives the validation document, uses the security template identify the location of one or more security elements on the certified document, and analyzes the validation document to identify expected content that should appear on the certified document at the security element locations. The system determines whether the expected content matches actual content of the scan at the security element locations and generates a report of the result.

  • Patent number: 9736330
Abstract: A system creates a copy of a document by: receiving an electronic representation a document to be copied onto a substrate; identifying a non-invasive watermark to be printed on the substrate; analyzing the document and the non-invasive watermark to determine whether a threshold amount of the non-invasive watermark can be printed in a white space of the document; and creating a secure copy of the document with the watermark. If the threshold amount of the non-invasive watermark can be printed in the white space, the system will print at least a portion the non-invasive watermark in the white space. Otherwise, the system will modify at least a portion of the non-invasive watermark to comprise an invasive watermark portion, and it will print the invasive watermark portion over a portion of the document's content.
