  • Patent number: 9661186
Abstract: Gloss effect image patterns are created by creating a solid color background and overprinting the solid color background with the glossmark. In creating the glossmark, a background base of an electronic image region is painted with a solid color corresponding to a color of a marking material; using a first electronic pattern ink, a background of the electronic image region is painted without knocking out the solid color of the background base of the electronic image region; and using a second electronic pattern ink, a foreground in the electronic image region is painted without knocking out the solid color of the background base of the electronic image region such that a pattern in the rendered image area is only visible when a predetermined angle between an observer's viewing angle and an angle of illuminating the rendered recording medium by an illumination source is realized.

  • Publication number: 20170111543
Abstract: A printing system receives a graphic document having a security area. The graphic document identifies a secure color to print in the security area. The graphic document is converted for printing by a printing engine of the printing system. This converting substitutes a secure patterned color in place of the secure color. The specific printing engine prints the printing bitmap to output a printed version of the graphic document with the secure patterned color in the security area. The security area of the printed version of the graphic document has a color appearance, and the secure color does not identify the type of security feature within the secure patterned color.

  • Patent number: 9614995
Abstract: Correlation marks and gloss effect image patterns are created with vector-based electronic pattern inks. In creating a correlation mark, which is only visible by viewing the image through a reference screen, two vector-based electronic pattern inks are utilized to create the correlation mark, wherein the vector pattern in one electronic pattern ink is parallel, but out of phase, to the vector pattern in the other electronic pattern ink and the vectors of both electronic pattern inks are painted as thin lines. In creating a gloss effect, which is only visible by viewing the image at a predetermined angle, two vector-based electronic pattern inks are utilized to create the gloss effect, wherein the vector pattern in one electronic pattern ink is orthogonal to the vector pattern in the other electronic pattern ink and the vectors of both electronic pattern inks are painted as thick lines.

  • Publication number: 20170039421
Abstract: A document validation system receives a scan image of a document to be certified, analyzes the scan image to identify one or more characteristics of the scan image, and uses the identified characteristics to identify a security template. In response to a validation request, the system uses the identified security template to create a validation document that includes descriptive material comprising the location of one or more security elements on the document to be certified.

  • Publication number: 20170039177
Abstract: A method of creating a confidence map for an electronic fillable form may include identifying, by an electronic device, one or more fillable fields of an electronic fillable form. The method may include, for one or more of the identified fillable fields, assigning one or more first coordinates of the electronic fillable form to define a graphical zone associated with the fillable field, assigning one or more second coordinates of the electronic fillable form to define a fill zone, assigning one or more third coordinates of the electronic fillable form to define a click zone, and assigning, by the electronic device, one or more fourth coordinates of the electronic fillable form to define a start zone representing a most likely selection area for the fillable field. The method may include creating, a confidence map associated with the electronic fillable form.

  • Publication number: 20170039422
Abstract: A document validation system receives a scan of a certified document. The system identifies a security template for the document, prompts a user to enter a validation document into the scanning device, receives the validation document, uses the security template identify the location of one or more security elements on the certified document, and analyzes the validation document to identify expected content that should appear on the certified document at the security element locations. The system determines whether the expected content matches actual content of the scan at the security element locations and generates a report of the result.

  • Patent number: 9538041
Abstract: A system and method render see-saw scalable gloss effect image patterns on a recording medium by using to two colors to provide one region with a relatively smooth surface, while a second region has a relatively rougher surface. A third region is added composed of a color different than the first two, wherein the third region has a relatively smooth surface where it intersects with the first region and a relatively rougher surface where it intersects with the second region. As the rendered recording medium is tilted at different angles, the image patterns thereon toggle to create a see-saw effect.

  • Publication number: 20160352961
Abstract: A document generation system creates a secure document by: receiving document content to be printed onto a substrate; creating a stencil mask comprising an image of at least a portion of the document content; receiving an image of a watermark to be printed on the substrate; modifying the watermark to remove portions of the watermark that will correspond to locations of the stencil mask; causing a print device to print the document content on the substrate; and causing the print device to print the modified watermark through the stencil mask on the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20160344891
Abstract: A system creates a copy of a document by: receiving an electronic representation a document to be copied onto a substrate; identifying a non-invasive watermark to be printed on the substrate; analyzing the document and the non-invasive watermark to determine whether a threshold amount of the non-invasive watermark can be printed in a white space of the document; and creating a secure copy of the document with the watermark. If the threshold amount of the non-invasive watermark can be printed in the white space, the system will print at least a portion the non-invasive watermark in the white space. Otherwise, the system will modify at least a portion of the non-invasive watermark to comprise an invasive watermark portion, and it will print the invasive watermark portion over a portion of the document's content.

  • Publication number: 20160096393
Abstract: A secure document contains a security mark that includes a background that exhibits a first color, and a foreground that exhibits a second color. The first color and the second color together exhibit a chrominance variation that is not visible to the unaided human eye or when viewed with the assistance of a magnifying glass, but that is visible when viewed with the assistance of a microscope. A method and system for printing such a document are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9282215
Abstract: A document contains a security element that combines a correlation mark and microgloss mark so that foreground pixels of the correlation mark are printed in a toner of a first color, and pixels of the correlation mark overwrite portions of the correlation mark in a second color, but neither the first color nor the second color appear on areas that correspond to background pixels of the correlation mark.

  • Patent number: 9275428
Abstract: Methods and systems rasterize a document to produce a bitmap having first pixels of a first color as background uniformly located across a watermark region and second pixels of a second color located in a pattern forming foreground items within the watermark region. The rasterization causes the first pixels to deposit a first marking material (forming the first color) to a first height on the print media, and the rasterization causes the second pixels to deposit a second marking material (forming the second color) to a second height (different from the first height) on the print media. In the printed document, by having the first color be different from the second color and the second height be different from the first height, this causes the relative darkness between the background and the foreground items to reverse when the printed document is viewed from different angles (relative to a light source).

  • Patent number: 9264575
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing real time correlation mark images and/or gloss marks. A new font can be created with respect to a prior font, wherein the new font includes a wider foreground than that of the prior font while maintaining the spatial frequency associated with the prior font (one time per font). The new font is then modified to include an inverted modified font by inverting each glyph one time per font and providing an image having the new font. The image is then written and the current color associated with the image is set to white (or to knockout). An operation is then implemented to write on top of the image using the new font.
