  • Patent number: 11230774
Abstract: The present disclosure provides substantially homogeneously dispersed multimetal oxy-hydroxide catalyst comprising at least two metals, at least one metal being a transition metal, and at least a second metal which is structurally dissimilar to at least one metal, such that the multimetal oxy-hydroxide is characterized by being substantially homogeneously dispersed and generally not crystalline. A key feature of the present materials is that the presence of the structurally dissimilar metal results in sufficient strain produced in the final multimetal oxy-hydroxide material to prevent crystallization from occurring. The resulting materials are specifically not annealed at temperatures that would induce crystallization in order to avoid the expected phase segregation that would occur during crystallization.

  • Patent number: 10809180
Abstract: Methods and devices for magnetic profiling of target particles in a flow. There are a plurality of flow rate-reducing structures in a flow chamber. Each flow rate-reducing structure is provided with a localized magnetic attractive force, the magnetic attractive force defining a capture zone in the vicinity of the flow rate-reducing structure. The size of capture zones may be variable for different locations within the device. The magnetic attractive force, in the capture zone, is sufficiently high to overcome the drag force on a given subset of the target particles to promote capture of any particles belonging to the subset of the target particles in the capture zone. Different target particles having different magnetic susceptibility are captured in different capture zones.

  • Publication number: 20200141015
Abstract: An abrupt interface electroreduction catalyst includes a porous gas diffusion layer and a catalyst layer providing a sharp reaction interface. The electroreduction catalyst can be used for converting CO2 into a target product such as ethylene. The porous gas diffusion layer can be hydrophobic and configured for contacting gas-phase CO2 while the catalyst layer is disposed on and covers a reaction interface side of the porous gas diffusion layer. The catalyst layer has another side contacting an electrolyte and can be hydrophilic, composed a metal such as Cu and is sufficiently thin to prevent diffusion limitations of the reactant in the electrolyte and enhance selectivity for the target product. The electroreduction catalyst can be made by vapor deposition methods and can be used for electrochemical production of ethylene in reaction system.
