  • Publication number: 20100277394
Abstract: It is described an antenna arrangement for transmitting and/or for receiving electromagnetic radiation. The antenna arrangement includes two antenna elements, which are adapted for transmitting and/or for receiving electromagnetic radiation of a first polarization. The antenna arrangement further includes one antenna element, which is adapted for transmitting and/or for receiving electromagnetic radiation of a second polarization being different from the first polarization. Furthermore, there is provided one coupling unit, which is adapted to couple, based on an appropriate control signal, the antenna elements selectively with one terminal of the antenna arrangement in such a manner, that the polarization direction of the antenna arrangement can be adjusted to the first polarization or to a combination of the first and the second polarization.

  • Patent number: 7773635
Abstract: Resources of two frequency division duplex (FDD) frequency bands at a distance from each other are allocated for transmissions by a time division duplex (TDD) transmission method. The resources in the first FDD frequency band are allocated for FDD transmissions in the uplink and for TDD transmissions predominantly in the uplink as the primary transmission direction, and in a secondary manner in the downlink as the secondary transmission direction. The resources in the second FDD frequency band are allocated for FDD transmissions in the downlink and for TDD transmissions predominantly in the downlink as the primary transmission direction and in a secondary manner in the uplink as the secondary transmission direction. No resources are allocated for time periods of an allocation of resources for one of the secondary transmission directions in the first and second frequency bands, for FDD transmissions in the counter transmission direction to this secondary transmission direction.

  • Publication number: 20100067478
Abstract: A method of selecting suitable frequency bands for data transmission between a network node and a user equipment within a mobile communications network. A method selects suitable frequency bands for data transmission between a network node and user equipment within a mobile communications network. A scheduler on the network node side selects data transmission mode depending on the user equipment capability of receiving data from at least two frequency bands simultaneously. The scheduler preferably selects the data transmission mode in the following way: simultaneous data transmission over at least two frequency with or without splitting traffic data or data transmission over only one available frequency band. For data transmission, a radio frame structure (Big MAC element) is dynamically established in the so-called medium access control layer, shortened so-called MAC-layer, by using concurrent radio resources from other frequency bands or other radio access technologies.

  • Publication number: 20100046659
Abstract: A method for increasing the SINR of a data transmission channel is presented. A mobile network element, in applying a first method, performs a first estimate of the channel's SINR by changing a first characteristic of a signal transmitted through the channel. The mobile network element, in applying a further method, performs a further estimate of the channel's SINR by changing at least one further signal characteristic of the signal. The mobile network element selects which method yields a higher estimate of the channel's SINR. The mobile network element transmits a feedback signal to at least one affiliated base network element indicating the selected method that yields the highest channel SINR. Applying the selected method, the affiliated base network element changes the corresponding characteristic of a signal it transmits, thereby increasing the channel's SINR.

  • Publication number: 20100027500
Abstract: A method for the transmission of data between base stations and terminal devices uses at least one first time-frequency-spectrum which contains a plurality of transmission resources. A transmission resource is defined by a section of the time-frequency-spectrum, which is formed by at least one subcarrier subdivided into time slots and by at least one time slot. As part of the method, data are transmitted between a base station and a terminal device in a frame on one transmission resource. The method is characterized in that the base station transmits the data in such a way that a combination of subcarriers and/or time slots of the transmission resource used for the transmission of the frame forms a transmission pattern characterizing the nature of the data. The base station selects the transmission pattern from a number of previously defined transmission patterns, depending on the nature of the data to be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20090318136
Abstract: A first network radio station communicates with a user station with the aid of first radio technology while a second network radio station simultaneously communicates using second radio technology, receives data on radio technologies that can be utilized by the user station, and performs a reconfiguration process allowing the second network radio station to utilize the first radio technology. The second network radio station then communicates with the user station with the aid of the first radio technology.

  • Publication number: 20090253458
Abstract: In a method for wireless communication, a receiver receives a first signal at a first radio frequency and determines the reception level of the first signal. • Publication number: 20090221315
Abstract: A first signal containing first data multiplied by a first weight factor is transmitted from a first radio station to a first terminal. The first weight factor is calculated taking into account a second weight factor to be used by a second radio station for transmission of a second signal containing the first data multiplied by the second weight factor, such that simultaneous reception of both the first signal and the second signal at the first terminal will cause the first data to be substantially cancelled. Further, the first weight vector is calculated taking into account first and second channel state information received from the first terminal.
