  • Patent number: 7577399
Abstract: In a method for the error-monitored transmission of data via interfaces of a multi-step communication system, the data is transmitted from a transmitter station to a data-receiving station via at least two relay stations which are connected therebetween and receive and further transmit the data parallel to each other. The data is retransmitted if the transmission has been insufficient due to a request from the receiver end and/or due to the lack of a confirmation from the receiver end. In order to increase performance while reducing power consumption of the system, the request or confirmation is generated only by the receiver station and is sent back to the transmitter station. The relay stations consequently do not generate any confirmations or requests.

  • Publication number: 20090204876
Abstract: Irregular LDPC codes have a construction which allows one to obtain a number of codes with different length from a single prototype code with a parity check matrix given by H=[Hz Hi], where Hz specifies the well-known zigzag pattern in the corresponding Tanner graph. The parity check matrices for longer codes are obtained as [Hz? ? diag(Hi, . . . , Hi)], where Hz? specifies a longer zigzag pattern depending on the number of matrices Hi used, and ? represents some permutation. This allows one to construct the decoder for a longer code by reusing hardware components developed for decoding the prototype code.

  • Publication number: 20090175320
Abstract: The invention relates to a method to determine a transmission mode to be used at a MIMO-transmitter. The determination of an optimum transmission mode is done at the side of a MIMO-receiver. The receiver calculates for each stream of a maximum number of received streams an effective SINR-value for a given first linear dispersion code LDC. The SINR value of each stream is used to select, according to a desired BER target, a suitable modulation alphabet for each stream. A sum-rate is calculated over all streams and a first stream with a minimum effective SINR value is separated and is not considered furthermore. A linear dispersion code LDC with a smaller code rate than the first linear dispersion code LDC is selected and SINR-values for the remaining N-I streams are calculated. A new sum-rate is obtained accordingly. In case that the new sum rate of the remaining N-I streams is smaller than the sum rate of N streams, the sum-rate calculation is terminated.

  • Publication number: 20090147764
Abstract: Prior to transferring to a radio communication system, at least one data block is encoded according to predetermined quality-of-service requirements with the aid of a first code. Subsequently, the data block, encoded by the first code, is further encoded according to the radio transmission properties of a usable radio transmission source with the aid of a second code.

  • Publication number: 20090135941
Abstract: In an OFDM multi carrier modulation method, M sub-carriers are used in a frequency band of a broadband mobile radio channel and several symbols are used in a time band. With application of a MIMO multi-antenna method with T transmitting antennae and R receiving antennae, for all sub-carriers and all symbols, a single, pre-determined, channel-matched transmission strategy is used, which is described by a maximum of T*R complex values on the signal side, independent of the species of the MIMO multi-antenna method and independent of the size of the frequency/time bands.

  • Patent number: 7492872
Abstract: In a method for giving notification of a message to a subscriber who is registered with at least two message services, each message service indicates to a common notification server at least the presence of a new message for the subscriber on that respective message service. The notification server transmits to at least one terminal of the subscriber a notification which includes at least the fact that a new message is present and identifies the message service in which the message is present. It is thus possible for a subscriber who is registered with a plurality of message services to be informed of the presence of a new message in a very reliable, quick and problem-free way.

  • Publication number: 20090029653
Abstract: In a communication system, a first transmitting station transmits a transmission signal to a first receiving station for transmitting a sequence of data via a radio interface. The radio interface is monitored with respect to an interference signal from an interference source prior to transmission via at least one of the first transmitting station and the first receiving station. The transmission only begins if the radio interface is sufficiently free from interference for a moment in time.

  • Publication number: 20080305784
Abstract: A method for configuring a mobile terminal wherein a basic configuration for use of the mobile terminal in differently organized communication networks is set up in the mobile terminal. The basic configuration for use of the mobile terminal in a particular communication network of the communication networks is modified by a change, for which purpose data for a configuration specific to the particular network is loaded into the mobile terminal. The change remains available during the use of the mobile terminal in the particular communication network. Correspondingly a suitable mobile terminal and a suitably embodied mobile radio network implement the method.

  • Patent number: 7328034
Abstract: A method synchronizes a radio communication system divided into radio cells. Data is transmitted in the radio communication system by a multiple access method. Each radio cell thus has a base station for the radio feed of several mobile stations, allocated to the radio cell. A synchronization of the base station is carried out using the received signals from mobile stations in the same radio cell and also in adjacent radio cells. The base station determines at least one pilot signal and signals said pilot signal to the allocated mobile stations in a downwards direction. The allocated mobile stations transmit the signaled pilot signal in an upwards direction to the base station. The base station determines a synchronization value, from the received pilot signals from the radio cell thereof and also from the adjacent radio cells, fro a time synchronization and/or for a frequency synchronization on which the bas station is synchronized.

  • Publication number: 20070202820
Abstract: A method determines a value of the transmission power for a signal that is to be transmitted from a transmitter station to a receiver station. According to said method, for a first value of the transmission power, the transmitter station estimates the position of a prospective first value of the receiving power of the receiver station in a predefined receiving power interval. A second value of the transmission power that is to be sent is determined by the transmitter station in such a way that when said value is used a prospective second value of the receiving power lies closer to the centre of the predefined receiving power interval than the prospective first value of the receiving power.

  • Publication number: 20070189204
Abstract: A first radio station of a group of radio stations identifies at least one adjacent radio station of the group while using a first radio interface. The first radio station then transmits information concerning the at least one adjacent radio station, which is determined by the first radio station, to a second radio station in the group using a second radio interface. Afterwards, the second radio station transmits path information to the first radio station using the second radio interface. From the path information, it can be inferred with regard to every other radio station of the group, to which radio station respectively adjacent to the first radio station a message addressed to the respective other radio station of the group is to be sent by the first radio station using the first interface.

  • Publication number: 20070140166
Abstract: Resources of two frequency division duplex (FDD) frequency bands at a distance from each other are allocated for transmissions by a time division duplex (TDD) transmission method. The resources in the first FDD frequency band are allocated for FDD transmissions in the uplink and for TDD transmissions predominantly in the uplink as the primary transmission direction, and in a secondary manner in the downlink as the secondary transmission direction. The resources in the second FDD frequency band are allocated for FDD transmissions in the downlink and for TDD transmissions predominantly in the downlink as the primary transmission direction and in a secondary manner in the uplink as the secondary transmission direction. No resources are allocated for time periods of an allocation of resources for one of the secondary transmission directions in the first and second frequency bands, for FDD transmissions in the counter transmission direction to this secondary transmission direction.

  • Publication number: 20060256728
Abstract: A method determines a path in a radio communications system comprising a multitude of at least partially mobile radio stations of which one radio station that is located in a radio coverage area of another radio station constitutes a radio station that is adjacent to the other radio station. In the radio communications system, items of information can be transmitted by a first radio station, which serves as a transmitting radio station, to a second radio station, which serves as a receiving radio station, over at least one path directly or via one or more other radio stations that receive and relay the items of information. A path between the first and the second radio station consists of a succession of radio stations that, in addition to the first radio station and the second radio station, optionally include the radio stations, which are located in the succession between the first and second radio stations and which receive and relay the items of information.
