    Abstract: Embodiments described herein disclose a vapor chamber including a thermally-conductive evaporator wall, a thermally-conductive condenser wall and a volume therebetween defining a vapor core for transporting a vapor of a working fluid from the evaporator wall to the condenser wall. The outer surfaces of the evaporator wall and the condenser wall are configured to be in thermal contact with a plurality of heat sources and a heat sink respectively. The vapor chamber further includes a porous wick structure for holding and pumping the working fluid towards the plurality of heat sources. The wick structure comprises an evaporator-feeding wick having an inner surface in thermal contact with an inner surface of the evaporator wall. The evaporator-feeding wick comprises a first region having a higher permeability than at least a second region to form a permeability gradient, such that the working fluid has a uniform flow to the plurality of heat sources.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting an anomaly in a power semiconductor device are disclosed. A system includes a server computing device and one or more local components communicatively coupled to the server computing device. Each local component includes sensors positioned adjacent to the power semiconductor device for sensing properties thereof. Each local component receives data corresponding to one or more sensed properties of the power semiconductor device from the sensors and transmits the data to the server computing device. The server computing device utilizes the data, via a machine learning algorithm, to generate a set of eigenvalues and associated eigenvectors and select a selected set of eigenvalues and associated eigenvectors. Each local component conducts a statistical analysis of the selected set of eigenvalues and associated eigenvectors to determine that the data is indicative of the anomaly.

    Abstract: A method of fabricating a multi-mode heat transfer device includes forming a thermal metamaterial composite structure that includes an inner core to radiate heat and an outer core that at least partially surrounds the inner core. The outer core includes a high thermally conductive material inlay and a low thermally conductive material matrix that form a composite material pattern to thermally concentrate and direct heat radiated by the inner core to an area outside of the multi-mode heat transfer device, while also thermally cloaking heat radiated by the inner core. A plurality of thermal metamaterial composite structures are then stacked in a stacked formation to form a thermal metamaterial composite assembly. The method includes manipulating the emissivity of the thermal metamaterial composite assembly by selectively applying a coating or a plating to one or more outer surface regions of the outer core to enhance the transfer of heat by the composite material pattern.

The data is based on the light received into the first plurality of optical fibers and the second plurality of optical fibers.

In an embodiment, a manifold microchannel heat sink includes a target surface and a gridded microchannel assembly comprising a plurality of microchannel cells. Each microchannel cell is surrounded by thermally-conductive sidewalls and includes a fluid inlet, a microchannel structure fluidly coupled to the fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The microchannel structure extends from the target surface and defines a microchannel extending in a normal direction with respect to the target surface. The microchannel structure includes a base plate disposed on the target surface and a three-dimensional fin structure disposed on the base plate. The three-dimensional fin structure has a shape optimized for thermal performance and fluid performance.
