  • Patent number: 8185767
Abstract: Embodiments provide a process and system for automatic management of networked devices based on the state of the network connection. The process automatically manages the power state of a networked computerized device according to a trigger event that corresponds to the state of an attached network connection. The network connection of an attached networked device is monitored for a pre-defined trigger event. Once a trigger event has been observed, the power state of the attached network device is managed to correspond to the trigger event.

  • Patent number: 8005968
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer media for loading initial maximum transmission unit (MTU) information and determining a destination host PMTU are provided. PMTU is the maximum data unit size that can be transmitted from a source host to a destination host because of a limiting component located somewhere in the path. Initial MTU values are determined from local and network sources, including a central repository, and loaded. A PMTU is then determined for a path between a source host and destination host by selecting an MTU value from the available values. If no MTU values are available for a destination host, a default value is used.

  • Patent number: 7937129
Abstract: A variable aperture sensor has a first jaw and a second jaw that are rotatably attached. An emitter is disposed in the first jaw, and a detector is disposed in the second jaw. The jaws are adapted to attach to a tissue site so that the emitter transmits optical radiation into the tissue site and the detector receives optical radiation through a variable aperture after absorption by the tissue site. The variable aperture is disposed in the second jaw and configured to adjust the amount of the optical radiation received by the detector.

  • Publication number: 20100217103
Abstract: An ear sensor provides a sensor body having a base, legs extending from the base and an optical housing disposed at ends of the legs opposite the base. An optical assembly is disposed in the housing. The sensor body is flexed so as to position the housing over a concha site. The sensor body is unflexed so as to attach the housing to the concha site and position the optical assembly to illuminate the concha site. The optical assembly is configured to transmit optical radiation into concha site tissue and receive the optical radiation after attenuation by pulsatile blood flow within the tissue.

  • Patent number: 7341559
Abstract: An embodiment of an ear sensor assembly comprises an emitter pad and a detector pad. A clip is configured to removably retain each of the pads. The clip has an open position for placement on an ear tissue site and a closed position for securing the pads to opposite sides of the site. The assembly includes a sensor connector adapted to electrically communicate with a host instrument. A sensor cable has a first end terminating at the pads and a second end terminating at the sensor connector and provides electrical communications between the pads and the connector. In one embodiment, one or more silicone lenses or removable adhesive tabs aid in relieving patient discomfort and pressure necrosis.

  • Patent number: 7254434
Abstract: A variable pressure reusable sensor has a first jaw having a first hinge and an emitter and an opposing second jaw having a second hinge and a detector. A pin is disposed through the first and second hinges so as to rotatably attach the first and second jaws. The jaws are adapted to attach to a tissue site so that the emitter transmits optical radiation into the tissue site and the detector receives optical radiation after absorption by the tissue site. A spring having a plurality of legs is disposed around the pin and configured so that the legs apply force to the jaws. A tensioner is disposed proximate at least one of the jaws and configured to variably position at least one of the legs so as to adjust pressure exerted by the jaws on the tissue site.

  • Publication number: 20050043600
Abstract: An optical probe, which is particularly suited to reduce noise in measurements taken on an easily compressible material, such as a finger, a toe, a forehead, an earlobe, or a lip, measures characteristics of the material. A neonatal and adult disposable embodiment of the probe include adhesive coated surfaces to securely affix the probe onto the patient. In addition, the surface of the probe is specially constructed to reduce the effect of ambient noise.
