Abstract: Provided are a connection setting method and apparatus for client cooperation in a wireless communication system. A base station and a source device search for at least one candidate cooperative device for the source device. The base station determines whether a list of candidate cooperative devices for the source device is valid. The source device is connected to a recommended candidate cooperative device selected from the list of candidate cooperative devices. At this stage, the base station and the source device are connected through a first system, and the base station and the recommended candidate cooperative device are connected through a second system.

Abstract: A method for requesting a bandwidth at a mobile terminal in a wireless communication system includes receiving, from a base station, information on whether the base station can compensate for changes in bandwidth request quantity caused by fragmentation or packing of a protocol data unit (PDU); requesting, to the base station, a bandwidth required for transmitting a first PDU; separating the first PDU and generating a second PDU and a third PDU in consideration of the quantity of allocated bandwidth when the quantity of bandwidth allocated by the base station is smaller than the requested quantity; transmitting the second PDU to the base station; and starting a first timer at the point in time the bandwidth allocation is received or at the point in time when the second PDU is transmitted and the information indicates that the base station can compensate for the changes in the bandwidth request quantity.

Abstract: A method for transmitting and receiving an ACKnowledgment (ACK) in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method includes transmitting a bandwidth request indicator to a Base Station (BS); and receiving an ACK for the transmitted bandwidth request indicator from the BS, the ACK including an extended A-MAP Type field, wherein the extended A-MAP Type field indicates a format of the ACK.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a broadband wireless communication system, and disclosed are a method and an apparatus for executing a carrier management process in a broadband wireless communication system which supports multi-carrier. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for executing carrier management by a terminal in a communication system which supports the multi-carrier comprises the steps of: receiving a signal which indicates control channel allocation for a 1st carrier from a base station; receiving a signal which indicates control channel de-allocation for a 2nd carrier from the base station; activating the 1st carrier if the 1st carrier on which the control channel allocation is indicated is in an inactivate state; and inactivating the 2nd carrier if the 2nd carrier on which the control channel de-allocation is indicates is in an activated state.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a broadband wireless access system including a relay station, and more particularly to an efficient procedure of Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) operations in a relay station and an apparatus for performing the same. A method for transmitting data for at least one terminal (AMS) from a base station (ABS) to a relay station (ARS) in the broadband wireless access system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of generating second transmission unit data using a plurality of first transmission unit data to which different relay sequence numbers are assigned; and transmitting the second transmission unit data to the relay station. The second transmission unit data can be transmitted through the same tunnel as the first transmission unit data.

Abstract: Provided are a method and a device for transmitting data through client cooperation in a wireless communication system. A cooperative device of the client cooperation receives uplink (UL) data from a source device through a frame of a first system, and if the UL data is the data to be transmitted to a base station of the second system, transmits the UL data to the second system. In addition, when receiving downlink (DL) data from the base station of the second system, and the DL data is data to be transmitted to the source device, the DL data is transmitted to the source device through the frame of the first system.

Abstract: Provided are a connection release method and apparatus for client cooperation in a wireless communication system. A source device and a base station exchange a release request message and a release response message at the stage of a connection release request. The source device releases connection with a cooperative device and then transmits a release report message, which includes the results of the connection release with the cooperative device, to the base station. The base station and the cooperative device are connected through a first system, and the source device and the cooperative device are connected through a second system.

Abstract: A method for efficiently transmitting and receiving a paging message and system information from and in a mobile station of a broadband wireless access system is disclosed. A method for receiving a paging message in a mobile station comprise receiving paging information from a serving base station, the paging information including paging sub group identifier (paging sub_group ID) indicating a paging sub group to which the mobile station belongs; and receiving the paging message for a predetermined paging interval of the paging sub group, wherein the paging sub group is determined separately from a paging group and a geographical location determining the paging group, and is maintained while the mobile station is being operated in an idle mode.

Abstract: Provided are a mode conversion method for client cooperation in a wireless communication system and a device thereof. A first device converts a second system repetitively into an active mode which can receive a signal and a non-active mode which cannot receive the signal based on mode conversion information, and detects at least one second device based on the second system in the active mode. The first device is connected to the base station through the second system and another first system.

Abstract: A method for data traffic offloading in a mobile communication system supporting a multi-radio access technology (RAT) and an apparatus using the method is provided. A mobile station receives information on a traffic load of a primary communication system from a base station. The mobile station determines whether to perform offloading to a secondary communication system on the basis of the traffic load of the primary communication system.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a broadband wireless access system, and more specifically, to a structure of an efficient signaling header. A medium access control protocol data unit (MAC PDU) including a medium access control header (MAC header) is proposed; the MAC header including a flow identifier field, an extended header field, and a length field. When the MAC header is a signaling header, the flow identifier field is set to a specific value indicating that the MAC header is the signaling header, and the extended header field and the length field include signaling content information. But, when the MAC header is not the signaling header, the flow identifier field is set to value other than the specific value, the extended header field indicates whether or not an extended header is included in the MAC PDU, and the length field indicates the length of the MAC PDU.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for communication using multiple carriers is provided. A mobile station receives information regarding at least one assigned carrier selected from the available carriers based on the multiple carrier capability from a base station. The mobile station activates or inactivates the at least one assigned carrier by receiving a message comprising information indicating activation or inactivation of the at least one assigned carrier from the base station. Signaling overhead for managing multiple carriers may be reduced.

Abstract: A method for performing ranging is disclosed. The method for performing ranging in a wireless communication system which simultaneously supports a legacy system and a new system includes a method for additionally allocating a ranging channel to a zone other than a legacy zone and a method for re-using a legacy ranging channel within the legacy zone. When the legacy ranging channel is re-used, ranging codes may be shared by a legacy mobile station and a new system mobile station or may be separated on a ranging code domain. Limited radio resources can be effectively employed by re-using the legacy ranging channel.

Abstract: Provided are a method and a device for entering a network for client cooperation in a wireless communication system. A first device, through a frame of a first system, receives a ranging request message from a second device, and transmits the received ranging request message to a base station. As a response thereto, the first device receives a range response message, which is a response to the ranging request message, from a base station of a second system, and through a frame of the first system, transmits the range response message to the second device.

Abstract: Provided are a method and a device for transmitting information for client cooperation in a wireless communication system. A first device or a base station of the client cooperation determines whether the first device is operable as a cooperative device for the client cooperation, on the basis of a decision factor. The first device transmits information for carrying out the client cooperation to a second device on the basis of whether the first device is operable as the cooperative device for the client cooperation.

Abstract: A method of transmitting broadcasting information or system information to user equipments in an idle mode or a sleep mode in a radio access system is disclosed. The method of transmitting broadcasting information to a user equipment in an idle mode includes receiving information related to the idle mode, decoding a control channel assigned to a first paging subframe according to the information related to the idle mode, and receiving the broadcasting information via a second paging subframe indicated by the control channel regardless of the information related to the idle mode, if the decoding of the control channel is successful.

Abstract: Various methods and apparatus for encrypting signals in a wireless access system are disclosed. A method for selectively encrypting a management message in an MS includes steps of generating a Medium Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU) including the selectively encrypted management message and an Fragmentation Extended Header (FEH) and transmitting the MAC PDU to the BS. The FEH includes indication information indicating whether the management message was encrypted.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing carrier management in a broadband wireless communication system supporting multiple carriers are disclosed. The method for a mobile station to perform carrier management procedure with a base station supporting multiple carriers includes receiving a carrier management command message from the base station, the carrier management command message including an action code for carrier management and a polling bit in a MAC Control Extended Header (MCEH) indicating whether an acknowledgement message is required, transmitting the acknowledgement message in response to the carrier management command message to the base station when the carrier management command message is successfully received and the polling bit is set to 1, and transmitting a carrier management indication message corresponding to the action code included in the carrier management command message to the base station.

Abstract: A method and apparatus performing carrier management in a broadband wireless communication system supporting multi-carrier (MC) are disclosed. A method for a single-carrier supported mobile station (MS) to perform a carrier change with a MC supported base station (BS) includes transmitting a message indicating a support of a basic MC mode in which the MS is aware of a MC operation of the BS, receiving a carrier management command message including an action code and an action time on a serving carrier, transmitting, in response to the carrier management command message, a confirmation message indicating readiness of signal transmission/reception through a target carrier on a target carrier, and receiving a control signal and data from the BS on the target carrier, wherein the serving carrier and the target carrier are controlled by a common Medium Access Control (MAC) of the BS.

Abstract: A transmitter for reducing time selectivity and/or frequency selectivity in a wireless communication system includes a plurality of transmit antennas, a phase shifter which is disposed for each transmit antenna and is configured to shift a phase of data transmitted through the transmit antenna by a phase shift value, and a channel selectivity processor configured to obtain the phase shift value by using a channel phase value fed back from a receiver.
