  • Publication number: 20170270249
Abstract: A health record system is described that utilizes a data transfer methodology for transmitting and storing medical test results of patients of a health clinic that avoids the use of complex IT environments. The health record system performs medical tests using medical instrumentation devices located at a health clinic that lacks connectivity to a network. The results of the medical test are printed in the form of a visual code that is non-human readable. A client device scans the visual code and the results of the medical test are extracted from the visual code and sent to a cloud environment for storage when the client device has network connectivity.

  • Publication number: 20170083246
Abstract: Systems and methods for maximizing shingled magnetic recording (SMR) drive capacity are described. In one embodiment, the SMR drive may include a main store to store user-accessible data, a media cache and media scratchpad to store internal data temporarily for internal operations, and a storage controller to process read and write requests. In some cases, the main store comprises a shingled media partition and an unshingled media partition. The storage controller may designate one or more data tracks from the shingled media partition as temporary data track guard bands. In some embodiments, a track range is selected based at least in part on at least one of an amount of data in the media cache, a size of the new data in the media cache, and an association between the new data in the media cache and data currently stored within the selected track range.

  • Patent number: 9377956
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for performing rewrite operations on recording bands of a data storage medium. In some embodiments, a storage device may receive a write request to be recorded to a band including a plurality of contiguous data storage areas (e.g. tracks) spanning from a first storage area to a last storage area. The device may determine a target area of the band to which to record the data, and perform a partial rewrite operation on less than all data storage areas of the band when the target area is not within a threshold number of data storage areas from the first storage area. In some embodiments, the rewrite operation may include reading data recorded in a first arrangement from the target band, modifying the data, and recording the modified data to the band in a second arrangement including a physical recording order different than the first arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20150204352
Abstract: A blower has a centrifugal impeller driven by an electric motor. The centrifugal impeller has a base plate, a cover plate defining an air inlet, a plurality of blades mounted between the base plate and the cover plate, and a reinforcement ring mounted to the cover plate around the air inlet. The cover plate includes an outwardly extending flange at the air inlet. The reinforcement ring has a flange fitted around the flange of the cover plate. Each blade has cover plate mounting portions and base plate mounting portions. The cover plate has blade mounting holes engaged with the cover plate mounting portions. The base plate has blade mounting holes engaged with the base plate mounting portions. The reinforcement ring increases the strength of the cover plate, to avoid breakage under high speed rotation.
