Patent number: 8474571Abstract: An ear piece assembly (10, 100, 200, 300, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000) designed for a stethoscope or other headpiece, and configured to allow rotation of an ear tip (20, 120, 220, 320, 420, 520, 620) of the assembly about a central axis (relative to the rest of the assembly) and to allow limited off axis movement of the ear tip (relative to the rest of the assembly). In typical embodiments, the ear piece assembly is designed to fit a user's ear canal and stay in place during typical use without rotational or off axis movement of the ear tip relative to the ear canal, and to provide substantially more comfort to the user than would a headpiece with a conventional ear tip assembly, particularly for prolonged wearing by the user. Other aspects of the invention are a headpiece (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2012Date of Patent: July 2, 2013Assignee: Stethoscope Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Frank Albert Bilan

Patent number: 8459644Abstract: A dual path, single reversing roll inverter driven by a single actuator includes a single reversing roller with two, diametrically opposed idler rollers. The configuration of the reversing roller and idler rollers forms a first nip and a second nip that are alternately used to accept sequential sheets from a paper path. The first and second nips discharge the sheets into respective first and second inverting paths. A method for inverting sheets using the dual path, single reversing roll inverter includes rotating the roller in a first direction to direct a first sheet through the first nip. The roller is then rotated in a second direction opposite the first direction to direct the first sheet from the first nip and into the first inverting path and to simultaneously direct a second sheet into the second nip. A gate alternately directs the sequential sheets into the first and second nips.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2012Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Bruce Allen Thompson, Frank Albert Porter, Michael J. Publication number: 20130138234Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to generating physical three-dimensional color-accurate objects based on a 3D computer-based color model using printed layers of media. Embodiments can slice a 3D computer-based color model into 3D cross-sectional components, which retain the color information of the model. The 3D cross-sectional segments can be converted into 2D page images and the color information can be included in a plan image corresponding to the cross-sectional segments. Embodiments can print the page images to form cross-sectional prints which can be layered and trimmed to shape the prints into a color accurate physical object that represents the model.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2011Publication date: May 30, 2013Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Ron Edward Dufort, Frank Albert Porter, Venkata Bharadwaj Chivukula, Aaron Michael Moore, Adam Douglas Ledgerwood

Patent number: 8396228Abstract: An active stethoscope or other sound detection device, including a diaphragm, at least one floating mass mounted to the diaphragm (at at least one coupling point of the diaphragm), and an acoustic transducer mounted to the floating mass. Preferably, each floating mass is configured and mounted so that as each floating mass and each coupling point of the diaphragm move in sympathy with acoustic waves (to be detected) that impinge on the diaphragm, the acoustic transducer rides with and is stabilized by the floating mass to which it is mounted and the diaphragm is stabilized by each floating mass. The acoustic transducer can be of any of many different types. For example, it can be a microphone, or an optical, capacitive, or inductive transducer. The diaphragm can have an isolating portion which absorbs acoustic surface wave energy incident thereon, or otherwise prevents or reduces transmission of acoustic surface waves through the isolating portion between regions of the diaphragm.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2008Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Stethoscope Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Frank Albert Bilan

Publication number: 20120301186Abstract: An apparatus includes a photoreceptor belt, a fixed transfer roller positioned on the inside of the photoreceptor belt, and a movable transfer roller positioned on the outside of the photoreceptor belt. The fixed transfer roller and the movable transfer roller are positioned to form a nip, and the photoreceptor belt and a web of print media are positioned in the nip. Also, a support roller and a compensation roller contact the web of print media. The support roller is positioned between the compensation roller and the nip. A physical link is connected to the support roller and the compensation roller. The physical link moves the support roller and the compensation roller so as to keep a constant tension on the web of print media.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2011Publication date: November 29, 2012Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Ming Yang, Roger G. Publication number: 20120251148Abstract: Systems and a method for image forming systems to skip over the non-printing photoreceptor area in order to not skip a label position on a continuous print web medium. A vacuum assembly is coupled to a controller that controls different vacuum pressures at each vacuum roller therein. The vacuum rollers provide drag and drive forces to skip a seam of the photoreceptor and a residual length based on the number and size of images on the photoreceptor.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 28, 2011Publication date: October 4, 2012Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Kenneth Paul Moore, Frank Albert Porter, Bruce Allen Thompson, Todd Maurice Uthman, Ron Edward Dufort, Venkata Bharadwaj Chivukula, Roger Gaylord Leighton

Publication number: 20090321196Abstract: An asymmetric adjustment mechanism, a head piece (e.g., stethoscope head piece or audio headset) including such an adjustment mechanism coupled to an ear tip subassembly, and a stethoscope including such a head piece. In typical embodiments, the adjustment mechanism can be closed (e.g., to reduce separation between ear tips) by exertion of closing force on the ear tip subassembly, or opened by exertion of opening force on the ear tip subassembly. In some embodiments, it automatically locks (e.g., with a desired separation between ear tips) upon cessation of user-exerted adjustment force in a locked state in which it exerts no more than an acceptably small (e.g. zero) bias force on the ear tip subassembly. The bias force has magnitude less than that of the opening force required to separate the ear tips to remove them from the user's ears.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2008Publication date: December 31, 2009Applicant: SILUTIONS TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventor: Frank Albert Bilan
